Samsung UN70TU6980FXZA no sound no picture but does have backlights
When I turn tv on, the backlights come on but there is no sound or picture. I have read that these tv's have problems with the panels going bad but the "no sound" has me questioning if the main board is bad. Is there a way to troubleshoot the main board to determine if that is the problem?

Re: Vizio E701i-a3 t-con board
I will be doing some comparison checks to see if I can find where the fault is. I will also check out the youtube videos for tips. My concern is that I am not sure of the compatability of the working main board since it isn't for this set. Thank you all for your advice and help!

Re: Vizio E701i-a3 t-con board
Update; it was an inaccurate meter, I tried another meter and the voltage was around 12v. I also found a bad solder joint on the tcon that I replaced the mosfet and that seems to work now. The set is working but with the main board from a 60"(E601i)set. The main board for this set(E701i) doesnt seem to be working, it did have red light blinking at the optical input but that has stopped. Is there any way to check and repair these boards?

Re: Vizio E701i-a3 t-con board
It says 5a 32v and points to fuse, must be a rating for fuse. I will try to post pics of tcon tomorrow.

Re: Vizio E701i-a3 t-con board
I did put it back in and it still reads 17v at fuse and 17v at 100(gray coil) 0v at big silver capacitor.

Vizio E701i-a3 t-con board
After a long time sitting on side burner I decided to start working on this set again. I read the other threads on this model and found that my t-con was bad so I ordered the replacement mosfet and replaced it but the tcon still has no power at big silver cap. The tcon does have 16.9 volts at the fuse and at the component marked 100(coil?). Any ideas on what else could be fried on this board?
Also I put a tcon from a e601i and the tv powers up with a picture however I read on one of the threads that the tcons from the E601(ZC) is different than the E701(ZH). Does anyone know what the...

Re: backlight tester malfunction
I looked closer with loupes and see it says US1M. All 4 in that area are the same.

It is the one with yellow arrow pointing to it, next to D3. There is no value marked on it....

Re: backlight tester malfunction
The mosfet seems to be bad(open) and one diode seems shorted, but I will unsolder it and check out of circuit. I will order and replace those parts. Thank you. The supplier wasn't too cooperative even though the tester is only about a month old and only used twice.

Re: backlight tester malfunction
I'm sorry, Due to family med emergency I have been unable to get back here. To confirm, when I received the tester it would power up to 300v with test leads open and adjust accordingly when load was applied. Now it powers up to 17-20v max when turned on with no load at test probes. I took pics of circuit board and will post them.

backlight tester malfunction
I purchased a DLV-300 LED Backlight Tester a short time ago and tried it on a couple of led strips and it seemed to work fine. It would start at 300v and when testing the led's, it would adjust to the voltage needed to light them.
I then went to use it while diagnosing problems with a tv set I have and at first the tester worked properly and lit up the first led strip and then lit up half of the second strip. But when I proceeded to find which leds were bad I noticed the tester wasn't working right. It only reads 17v then slowly goes up to 20v max. Does anyone have experience with these...

Re: Vizio E701i A3E no power
I used the releases for the cables but the foil stuck to the contacts in spots. The further damage came from freeing them from under the frame.
