    Insignia NS-50D40SNA14

    Hello guys,

    Situation :

The top left of the TV started to do fading horizontal lines. It's like the top third of the screen, and the lines were fading to normal reaching half the screens.
The horizontal lines were NOT black, they were a different tone of colour, but you were still able to see the image correctly.

After a couples of weeks like this, the screen went greyish/black. It's not the same colour as when the TV is off. Same issue on all Input.
The sound is still working perfectly on HDMI.
    The backlight are all ON.
Cannot see the menu nor the splash screen on bootup.

What I have done / tested so far :

After lurking lots of forum, the symptom pointed out the T-Con board, since No picture, but Sound and Backlight are OK.
I have ordered a new T-Con and replaced it. Same issue.

The fuse F1 on both T-Con are ok.
    I have 12 V after F1.

When I unplug either 2 of the ribbon cable or the T-Con main connector while the TV is on, it doesn't change anything. Doesn't flicker or anything.

When I press the channel button on the TV, the tone of grey/black seems to changed a bit.

The chip UL1 on the main power board is really hot to the touch. And the board is a bit darker around the chip than the rest.

No Capacitors looks burnt or damaged.

    Whats Next ?

I would need your help for next step.
What should I measure with my multimeter?
What can be the issue? The main board?

    Let me know thanks

Is the T-CON mounted on the bottom center of the LCD PANEL?
Pictures of the whole back side of the TV showing all the boards will help.
What do you get on the screen if you have one ribbon cable between the T-CON and the LCD panel connected one at a time?

Here the picture of the full layout.
      Yes T-Con in bottom middle

When I plug only the right ribbon, half right of the image is displayed correctly.
When I plug only the left ribbon, no image.
If I plug the right ribbon, on the left LCD, no image.
If I plug the left ribbon, on the right LCD, no image.
Plug back the right ribbon on the right LCD, half right image again.

I can do that right since both ribbon have the same P/N ?

You have problem in the LCD panel. This LCD panel has tab bonding board on the bottom edge of the screen so when people spray the cleaner on to the screen the liquid will drip down on to the board and damage the board, that is more likely to cause of the failure, but if you lucky, it can also be bad caps on the tab bonding board. The bottom line is that you will have to get the frame off the panel to inspect the board for damages.

Thanks I will remove the frame, later today or tomorrow to inspect the board.

I have removed the frame, I don't see anything suspicious on the board. Linked picture

Is there a chance of repair at this point or it's dead since it's the LCD Panel ?

The bonding board is not replacable due to the soldered ribbon ?

There are many caps on that tab bonding board, you should check to see if any of them show low (100 Ohms or less) resistance when measured between the two legs of each caps.

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                      by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                      Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                      First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
                      by kca
                      Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
                      by Daren87
                      Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

                      by netgearnetgear
Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...
