    Vizio D48-D0 10241020222, backlight ON, no picture, new boards

    Hello all,

    Have a Vizio D48-D0, 10241020222. S/N starts with LAUSTWBS.

    The TV powers on, backlights present, no picture (not sure if this TV makes a sound on power up, but no sound heard). No special blinking LED code on front panel. At power up, the backlights look bright, then for about a second, the backlights go out, then they come back on, but look a bit dimmer than they did at power up (no picture throughout that process).

    The power board is a 0500-0605-0940. The main board is a 3648-0202-0395. ShopJimmy sold both boards for $50 total, so I ordered SJ-KIT-D48-D0-K1. Received the boards, listing said compatible with S/N LAUSTWBS, but the main board bar code had a slight difference. The original main board was 3648-0202-0150(3B), but the board from ShopJimmy is a 3648-0202-0150(3D). May that be the problem?

    I removed the old boards and put in the new kit from SJ. Here are the pin readings:

    LED issue? Part discrepancy between the (3B) and (3D)? My headache meter is pegged. I can't remember SJ ever sending me a bad/incompatible part.

    T-con? What was your original problem?

      I thought t-con too, however, there is no t-con (unless it's hidden really well). Original problem is same as current problem.

        The part number stops before the parenthesis, anything after that is factory info and not relevant. The 12 digit part number (3648-0202-0150) is the same on both boards so it's the same part.

        So you have the same issue now as you did originally, no video WITH backlight on, it's highly likely that the display panel is bad since this model has no T-CON, and you've already swapped out the main board. The LED strips are working since they are on as you stated earlier. There's a small chance the main board we sent is defective, I'd say 10% or less.

          The panel has integrated T-CON so there should be a SMD fuse the long board of the panel that you need to find out if it is getting the switched 12v to both ends of the fuse or not.
          BTW, what is the LCD panel model number?

              Thanks, bud. I have 12.5VDC on both sides of the SMD fuse you mentioned. Not sure about the LCD panel number. Attached are some pictures, but I Google'd all the numbers and didn't find anything helpful.

                There are various test points on the board.

                Avdd_17v (obviously should be 17v)
                3.3v ( same as above.

                Then look for other points like sda, vgl, vone, voffe.

                post results of all the test points you can see.

                    AVDD_17V: 172mV
                    VCC: 3.3V
                    VOFF_-11V: 110mV
                    ATD_MON_T: 1.7V
                    ATD_MON_D: 13mV
                    VCC_1.8: 1.8V
                    WP: 3.3V
                    SCL: 3.3V
                    SDA: 3.3V
                    MON_L: 334mV
                    MON_R: 334mV

                    All of the other test points ranged from 10mV-340mV.

                      OK so you have a problem somewhere.
                      I'd check all the smd caps and see if any are shorted.

                        Hamie, most of the SMD caps on that particular board are open, a few in close proximity to each other measure ~1kΩ. That was done in-circuit, though.

                          See those two ICs with two small inductors with '100', '220' on tops?
                          Those IC are part of switching power supplies that generate VGH, VGL, etc.
                          Get the P/N and look up the spec sheets so you can see if they are generating the Voltages or not.

                            Hello,

                            I'm having a similar issue with this board. I just replaced the main board on a Vizio D48N-80 which restored functionality to the TV. The output is distorted though. The same board discussed here is used in this TV. I found that one of the small inductors labeled 220 is shorted to ground on the board that has been discussed on here. I can't find a replacement board so I need to attempt a component level repair.

                              Tried to find a proper place to post this question but could not - I have a Vizio D48-D0 with no power. Replaced the power supply board, nada. Looking to replace the main board - cheap enuff on ebay. Anyone know if you can sub a 3648-0202-0150(3E) for a 3648-0202-0150(3B)?
