    TAB Driver IC Repairs

I am playing around with learning how to bond tabs back to the LCD panels but wanted to share something unique.
These Malaysian guys heated the driver IC chip on film. The FPC stays in place and they heat the chip to repair. Then slather it with heat dissipate paste. I am going to have to try this on a bad panel when I pick another one up.

Anyone have a bad panel they want to play with and see if this fixes it. The bad panels I have are stripped of parts for salvage so I won't be trying it soon.

Interesting. Nothing to lose trying it if you have this fault.

      Re: TAB Driver IC Repairs

I cannot see if the IC is bad I.E. shorted out can be repair by heating it without replacing it. If heat can fix bad IC then there is no need for me to stock replacement IC.

Its prob the bonding of the chip to the FPC rather than a dead chip....

Worth a try, will give it a go. the guy also has other vids--like curing the double-image fault by cutting some traces....

It appears to be re-bonding the COF chip. If the chip has blown then there's nothing at the moment that I am aware of that can be done.

            Re: TAB Driver IC Repairs

I've played with this a few times with no success, but I wonder if that's because I was working with shorted IC's and not poorly connected ones.

In the video, upon powerup his TV displays normally (very briefly) then goes to screen fault. I think that's a clue the IC's not shorted, just not making proper connection.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think you can bring one back from the dead. I was thinking along the lines that the bond was weak to the fpc. But it is a very curious video. I have never seen someone try this before.

Ok i didn't expect that haha. Makes sense though as that chip runs very hot. Will try it if i find a tv with a bad panel..... <-- That won't be hard

                  That is interesting.
If the IC is shorted, then there is a black screen on that side, no?

It all depends on panel and driver. Some failures look like rainbow stripes while others are dark and some can be blank. Depends on how the chip failed. Sometimes the get so hot they melt through the fpc.

                      Re: TAB Driver IC Repairs

Well the heat cannot fix the chip failure, it MAY fix the bad connection between the chip pins and the flexible PCB.

Hardly anything new. You can buy wide tips, "T-tips" for your soldering iron which make this kind of job easier. On ebay they are popular as "soldering iron tip BMW" - apparently a lot of BMW head units and instrument clusters have issues with the tape connection to the display.

Hello, this is my first post and im just a beginner, so be easy on me guy. thanks

i have a LED chandeilier that switches colors from white to cool white to warm when toggling the switch, it has 24 LED arms, each arm is 30 CM length.

i have no datasheet at all for the LED lights, all i have is its length.

long story short, testing the chandelier on the ground, and it works fine for 1 - 2 - 6 hours, no problem.

as soon as i fix the chandelier to the ceiling and bury the driver inside the hub,...

                          Sell or Shim Solar panels?
                          by eccerr0r
Well, due to my grid tie inverter not accepting high voltages, and the fact that the lions in my solar panels are 36V (72-cell) I think I need to stick with 72-cell.

However I have a few smaller panels that are 36, 32, and two 30-cell. The 36 and 32 together run at 75% efficiency (and subtract more with additional inefficiencies) when running in parallel with the 72-cell panels. The kicker is that the two 30s... generate 0% power when connected in parallel(!)

So now what to do with these small panels?

                          I could sell them...

                          Or I could shim them....

                          Problem

Fixing a dimming zone TV with LEDs not lighting up. Dimming zone circuit introduces added variable to diagnose LED and/or Dimming Zone Driver board? Some 1/2 rows of LEDs appears to be out in active dimming zone off AND some brightness flickering with active dimming zone high while playing changing video

Vizio indicate this TV has 10 dimming zones. However, LED strips and Zoned light driver connector suggest 12

                          Audio Driver for Thomson P14C4BK128

Need Audio Driver for Thomson P14C4BK128 (Windows 10/11)

                          Hi everyone,

I'm looking for help finding the correct audio driver for my Thomson P14C4BK128 laptop.
The sound is not working properly, and I believe the audio driver is missing or not installed correctly.

                          Here are the details:
                          • Model: Thomson P14C4BK128
                          • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit

If anyone has a working link to the driver or knows where I can download it, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

                          by bohaboha
Hello all am trying to reinstall my AMCAP Microscope on windows 10 but it is not working anymore. But the cam and the drivers are present in the Device Manager but there it saysWindows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) the drivers is : gl usb2.0 uvc camera device driver and i also get this mesage: Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error.
but it is quite strange because it did work on this same OS for one week ago and even for sometimes ago on that same but now nix.
