Yeah. Best Buy takes, but for $25 fee. Where I live, there are no free recycle locations and I'm not into Ebay selling.
If it had been a more simple part, I would have attempted it, just for the challenge, but........."A Man's Got to Know his Limitations".

have you tried the "tape trick" on the tcon to panel connector (at the tcon)? there was some posts in the past whereby some have placed tape near the end of the ribbon such that it appears to stop some form of "connection issue" at the connector. Of course, this is a "hail mary"... but if you have time, potentially you might search and find some "comfort" there... if you are lucky.Comment

Since the back is still off, I tried the tape on the top of the connectors to snug the fit.
No change.

I don't think it was about snugging, I think it was more about contact "contamination" although that is more my read of the "fix".... as I do believe the tape was placed on the contact side of the ribbon. I do believe the link was originally posted by budm to some one else who was given the "bad panel diagnosis". Yeah. And the lines are all across the screen, not just on half as one connector would result in.

Panel dud, avoid at all costs. Are these new pictures taken after the ribbon cables between the T-CON and the panel were re-seated? Those coarse horizontal lines are usually due to improperly seated cables.Never stop learning

After I reseated the cables.
Just cleaned the cable ends with alcohol and reseated. No change.

First. it has no picture at all. i solved it by covering the ckv lines using tape to to block the connections
Second. now has picture but with vertical lines that follow the image. tcon board ic overheating
tried blocking LC lines too, but same results
is it lcd panel issue or tcon board issue?... -

i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :
With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :
I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)
Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed... -
This "free from a friend who was going to recycle it" SONY BRAVIA XBR-55A8H arrived with the bottom center RED LED repeating a four flash pattern. It was treated with kid gloves and was reported to have "just gone dead" and the OLED panel has no dents in the metal frame or cracks.

I have acquired a Sony XBR-65X900H to try and fix. It probably was a complete no power situation. The main board was replaced and the TV started turning on. I now have start sounds and backlights, but no image. I've replaced the t-con with no improvement. Cables all appear to be ok and seated properly. The TV took a firmware update and hard reset but neither helped.
Using the tape trick I can get both side to display combinations of colored vertical lines. There is no change in the stripes and the pattern always appears the same. If I add additional tape strips I can get the screen...
