Tips or tricks to identify cracked LCD panels on dead units?

Tips or tricks to identify cracked LCD panels on dead units?

Anyone have any tips on spotting cracked LCD panels on units that wont power up?

I recently bought a lot of a couple dozen flat screens and discovered there were more cracked displays then I was originally able to see, which is ok, I am still money ahead.

Now I have a handful of units sitting here that are dead due to power supply or mainboard issues. Starting to second guess myself weather to sink the money into them for replacement parts only to find out I have more cracked panels.

About the only tip I know is to look at them very carefully at all sorts of different angles using various bright lighting.

Just wondering if there were any other tricks I could use to spot them?

      1) get them in daylight ......... sunlight is better you will see patches where its broken sometimes a camera flash shows them up

      2) look to see what else theyre selling, boards and working tv's steer clear theyve had a go at it and knows the screen is damaged

      3) look for chips on the screen

      4) vertical lines on screen cant be seen until you get the unit working

the above have saved me money
