UPDATE: Cleaned the ME myself, the NUC is now working. In case it helps anybody else I am attaching the working clean ME version. ...

I guess at this point is more about what the repair shop can do. Swapping a CPU won't be a cost effective option. Like you said, swapping the motherboard for a fully functional one might be the best bet.

Did you try the bios from minhdigital? That one is working for me. Also:
- What programmer are you using?
- Are you desoldering the bios chip or programming in place?
- Did you first cleared the chip before programming and verified it afterwards? Did you try the bios from minhdigital? That one is working for me. Also:

Hi, there can be multiple reasons why Surface won't boot. It can be any hardware fault preventing the Surface from finishing the power on sequence. Desoldering a CPU is the absolutely last resort when everything else fails (and is usually not even economical due to the cost of the CPU itself as well as the time spent on the exchange).
I would suggest to:
1. Check the resistance of all the coils - is there any that's low?
2. Find the power on sequence in the schematics and measure all the signals in order to see where the sequence stops. Then you can narrow it down to...

Discovered that the original attached file was badly extracted. Here is the proper one.

NUC BLKNUC7i7DNKE bios
Hello, my apologies for reviving this thread. I have a 8gen NUC with a (possibly?) dead bios - the fan starts up, slows down, but it doesn't show any picture (recovery button doesn't work either). The dump is attached.
Could anybody please help me with fixing it? I am not able to find any BIOS dumps for this model anywhere.

My apologies. Please help me fix this bios for Surface Pro 7 (ME error, can't boot from any drive / usb stick, sometimes doesn't boot at all). I can get into UEFI without problems, but it still does not want to boot past that no matter the settings.

Hello,
can somebody please help me with my Surface Pro 7 BIOS? It's having ME problems (bios showing ME version 0.0.0.0) + it is unable to boot from SSD or flashdrive (and sometimes it doesn't boot at all). Thank you SO much!
PS: It is interesting that the working Rev 1 board BIOS that I have from a previous post is not working on the Rev 2 board....

Surface Pro 7 - SSD heating up in an unusual pattern, stuck at boot
Hello fellow Badcappers,
I have a Surface Pro 7 that's turning on (CPU heating up, USB powered, LCD powered) stuck on a boot logo. BIOS should be correct (ME cleaned, worked in a different S7Pro), no shorts. Only thing that seems a bit weird is the pattern in which the SSD chip is heating up. Is that normal behaviour? Rest of the SSD is 10 degrees colder.
I have replacement SSDs, but it's quite a hassle to reball and install them, so I would like to avoid doing this step if possible.
Thank you!1 Photo

I am using Seek Compact. It is not very detailed or fast, but it gets the job done perfectly.

UPDATE: So the whole power up sequence is ok up until PLTRST# remains LOW. PCH receives SYS_PWROK, but there's no change in PLTRST#. Is the PCH / CPU toast or is there something else that might be going on?
Resistance of PLTRST# to GND is 65 ohms (which seems to be ok when compared with other Surface).

Surface Pro 7 - SLP_S4 present, then gone
Hello fellow Badcappers,
I have a problem with stubborn Surface Pro 7. I narowed it down to disappearing SLP_S4# (gone after around 200 ms).
Everything else works as it should (the whole power on sequence succesfully finishes, all the voltages are present) until this signal goes missing - with it missing the AND gate causes ALL_SYS_PWRGD to go back low and this makes VCCIN drop to 0 V as well. Interestingly the SLP_S4_DRV# signal from SAM is still present for a second, even after SLP_S4 is no longer there. I wonder what could either cause PCH to stop sending the signal or what...Last edited by Prott; 12-04-2023, 01:41 PM.

Re: DELL latitude 7390 bios dump
For anybody that comes across this problem in the future. I managed to make the USB-C work by:
1. Making a backup of the original PD flash (non working)
2. Flashing a new code to the PD flash from a different machine (the USB-C was totaly not working at this point, cause the code wasn't compatible)
3. Updating the main bios (which gave me error during PD flash update)
4. Flashing back the original backup, which suddenly now worked ...

Re: DELL latitude 7390 bios dump
Hello,
I am not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but is there a way to obtain the image of the dedicated flash that's attached to the PD chip (TP65982)? Mine got corrupted during an update, rendering the USB-C port useless.
Thank you.

Re: Soldering flex cable - tips & tricks
Upon further investigation it indeed seems as if that was the WRONG SIDE of the cable. Thank you!
However the break is in such place that it just might be easier and more reliable to remove the screen and replace the cable with a new one - even considering how brittle the screen is. Oh, why couldn't they use screws...

Re: Soldering flex cable - tips & tricks
Thank you. Will try that with a better blade, bigger tip and lower temperature. Do you think a low-melt solder would be better for this application?
mcplslg123 - I scraped on the opposite side of the spare cable and there are no traces visible in that part. Only thing I can think of is that the cable is multilayered - will test it.

Re: Microsoft Surface Pro 7 NEED BIOS. HELP!
You can try the me cleaned working bios that I posted few posts back. However the 3 second logo loop might be caused by multiple hardware faults as well. In my experience anything that goes wrong in the power up sequence can cause this (short on any rail, etc.). Did you check all the rails for shorts?...
