I recently ordered a complete repair kit for this tv through shopjimmy.com it came with both the power supply and main board with all of the connects such as the control panel, ir board, and wifi board. but to no avail there is no change when i hit the power button you can see the power light come on and slowly fade out. No picture or sound. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Ok I tested the voltage of both the power supplies before pressing the power button and after. this was the results.

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
That's the way this TV operates the "ON" light. It powers on, then slowly fades off. It does this even with a perfect TV. What do all your numbers mean? Do you think we are psychic and can tell what you mean?
My 55" Vizio also operates the "ON" light the same way.
Do a flashlight test. You probably have a screen with info on it. Your problem is a bad LED (or two, or three, or four, or...) in the backlight. If the flashlight test is successful, then crack open the panel and replace the bad LEDs.Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
Oh, by the way, all your voltages are within specs. The model power supply that you have does NOT flag a fault with dead LEDs for some reason. This is why the flashlight test will confirm a working TV, minus the backlights.
Sorry, but you spent all that lucre on all the wrong parts. Four or five (or even less) $0.25 parts will end up fixing your set. Well, at least you now have spares!
P.S. I just last week fixed an E470i-A0 with the same problem.Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
I just got done working on a Vizio E470I-A0. I can tell you exactly why the Power led comes on then slowly goes off. It is caused by bad LEDs in the screen. Don't bother replacing any boards because you need to take the panel apart and replace the LEDs. In my TV there are a lot of them burnt out on every strip. They normally burn out because someone has turn the light up to high. I recommend never higher than 75%. Same thing happens when someone turns the volume up too high, they burn out the audio amp.
So I replace my LEDs with a heat gun. Soldering iron will NOT work.
As you can see from my picture I am testing 1 strip and 2 of the LEDs are burnt out. I will not be fixing this TV because the screen is cracked but when the TV will not turn on I have to find out why. Now I know my parts are good.
So to everyone that has this problem, check for burnt out LEDs.Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
Good LEDs or bad LEDs, this is the way the power indicator LED works. Depending on the power supply version, the TV may work with the backlights out. A "flashlight test" that shows info on the screen will indicate a problem with the backlights.Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
There is a power supply board that this TV uses that WILL shut the TV down with bad backlights. The first E470i that I repaired had that power supply and would not turn on. The second E470i that I repaired had the power supply shown by the OP in the first post. That power supply does NOT flag a shutdown with bad LEDs in the backlight. The flashlight test showed a screen full of broadcast television with sound. Though I really don't like having to tear down a set to the backlights (the panel is very fragile standing naked in the open), these repairs are really the easiest to do.Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
Hello All;
I just replaced the full set of led strips in one of these being very careful with the screen disassembly and reassembly. I was not able to verify anything on this set except that voltage was being supplied to the backlights and they were not coming on. Feeling confident that this would be the only problem I proceeded with the replacement of the LEDs. Gonna attach a pic of what I have now and ask you what you think?Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
Bad Panel. Not worth fixing. Save parts for the next TV.
But you could try the trick with the rubber hose pressing on the tab bond of the screen. Budm has a post describing how to do this.

Sorry Jimmy, but that panel is damaged, either by handling the screen too rough or it was a pre existing fault.
You can try and inspect/manipulate the ribbon v]cable that lines up with the fault but am almost 100% sure it's a goner.

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
I apologize for resurrecting an old thread, but my situation is too similar to the OPs to not post for comparative reasons.
I have the same set as the OP, but my situation differs slightly. When I turn the power on my indicator light is very dim and starts to fade along with my screen flashing every few seconds. The screen is extremely dim and can only be seen in a very dark room. It will flash on and I can see the big V logo, then goes off, back on and I see the No Input message and menus etc, back off.. And this cycle repeats indefinitely. When the screen flashes on and goes back off, the power light will start to dim at the same time in unison with the screen flashes.
I know the OP had bad backlights, however I'm not certain yet that I do. I don't actually NEED a flashlight to see the screen when it flashes on, I just need the room to be dark. Maybe that means something, maybe not.
Anyway, I made my own thread, but as I mentioned, there's enough good info here that makes for a good comparison.

if you are only getting the v splash screen over and over, you are probably looking at a faulty eeprom.WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?Comment

It gets past the splash screen just fine. I can see the menus, but only in a dark room and the screen flashes on and off every few seconds.Comment

I've got a 50" RCA with bad leds that I haven't bothered with. Is this Vizio an easier one to replace them on? Obviously it's more worth it because it's a smart tv. I bought a couple suction cups from Menards a while back when I thought I might attempt the other tv, so I do have those handy.Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
In my opinion ALL smart TVs are worthless, the reason being is you can by an Android box and it makes any TV a smart TV and it becomes way more then any smart TV on the market. Most smart TVs you can not install and delete apps but on the android box you can. I have realized that if you buy an android box it is best to get one with 3GB ram and no less. You can even connect these to the old tube TVs and they become a smart TV.
I fix a lot of TVs with bad LEDs, it does take time but it feels good when the job is done. I use a heat gun to remove the LED and replace it with one I took from a broken screen or you can replace the whole strip.Comment

This is considering the problem actually is bad leds. I have not even taken the back off yet. I'm probably unlucky enough to have gotten the model power supply that makes it more difficult to diagnose burned out leds. I read earlier that there's two model power supplies, one that throws a fault and shuts the tv off in the event of burned out leds, and the other supposedly doesn't thus the tv will stay on but without backlights.Last edited by x_orange90_x; 08-12-2017, 08:38 AM.Comment

Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off
I just checked the voltages. Both strings spike up to ~130v and stay there. So, I guess there's bad leds in both strings.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I just acquired this portable aircon, history unknown. Its behaviour is quite strange:
- When turned on and placed into cooling mode, the upper fan (cold air out) just spins slowly. The compressor and lower fan do not run.
- If the device is then placed into heating mode and then back into cooling mode, the lower fan and compressor kick in and start cooling, but the upper fan still only spins slowly.
- If the device is placed into fan-only mode, the upper fan does not respond to low/medium/high speed toggles - just keeps running slowly.
