  • Re: Samsung LN40B650 Standby light on, won't turn on

    It tries to power up as soon as I plug it in but the standby light comes on if I power down after it fails. It tries to power up through the same sequence every time I hit the power button on the set or the remote.

    Thanks
    Jim

  • Re: Samsung LN40B650 Standby light on, won't turn on

    I realize this is an old post but I have a LN40B650T that seems to power up fine until the backlights start to reach full voltage, then just shuts down. Does that indicate a bad backlight? How can I tell which one?
    Thanks

  • Re: Vizio E470I-A0 Power led comes on then slowly goes off

    Hello All;
    I just replaced the full set of led strips in one of these being very careful with the screen disassembly and reassembly. I was not able to verify anything on this set except that voltage was being supplied to the backlights and they were not coming on. Feeling confident that this would be the only problem I proceeded with the replacement of the LEDs. Gonna attach a pic of what I have now and ask you what you think?...

  • Re: RCA 42PA30RQ Playing The 'Let's Swap PCBs' Game

    Yes, I did finally get that RCA fixed. It turned out to be the Y-buffer and it was blowing the y-main and x-main every time I replaced one of them.
    It worked for over a year at Miss Lillie's house and went down again. Now I am back to square one. Replaced X and Y mains along with Y-buffer and still no life. I think I am getting bad boards? This is absolutely the most difficult TV I have ever worked on. I think it is finally going to the scrap pile unless one of you guys wants it!

  • Re: SONY KDL-40V4100 Tab bonding fix

    I have one with the same symptoms and now have it on the bench. KDL-40XBR4.
    I can hold down on the ribbon tab that connects to the pcb and the picture is good. Not sure yet what material to use to creat some pressure on that ribbon when the frame goes back on?
    This thread has given me some direction though. Thanks Guys!

  • Re: RCA 42PA30RQ Playing The 'Let's Swap PCBs' Game

    Think I am going to replace both the x and y-main boards. Surely I'll get it then?

    Thanks for everyone's help!!!

  • Re: RCA 42PA30RQ Playing The 'Let's Swap PCBs' Game

    Thanks TW;
    That information was very helpful. I tried checking for shorts as the guide said but either I am not doing something right or there are no shorts. During all the testing and powering off and powering on the symptoms actually made a change though. Now when I power on I get a series of three clicks from the PSB.
    Here are the voltage readings I got when powering up;
    Va = 54v then falls off to 0v.
    Vs = 207v then falls off to 0v.
    Vse = 0V with x-main connected and three clicks
    ...

  • Re: RCA 42PA30RQ Playing The 'Let's Swap PCBs' Game

    Thanks Tom for responding. I have the x and y-mains disconnected and still no voltage on Vs or Va? The only thing pluged in is the robbon to the main boord and the small ribbon to the control board. The relay goes click/clack once when the power button is hit on the remote, the red led turns blue and the sound comes on. The 5.3 volt and 15 volt checks ok. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks again for any help
    Jim...

  • Re: RCA 42PA30RQ Playing The 'Let's Swap PCBs' Game

    I have exactly the same problem and I have read through most all the posts for this model. My question is simple; Does the power supply board supply the 55V to Va and the 207V to Vs? Or are those voltages back fed from the Y-main and X-Main boards?
    I was not getting any voltage on those test ports so I replaced the PCB. Guess what? Still don't get any voltage???

    Thanks for your help.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hello Cannikin;

    Good luck getting some response! I personally have been trying to figure out how to get a new thread started with no luck and no responses to posts. I have a RCA Plasma, Samsung rebadge, with the same problem you have. So I'll try to keep up with your thread once I find it. I replaced the power supply board because I was not getting the 55V on Va or the 207V on Vs. Didn't help anything. Still not getting the voltages.

  • Re: 42" rca 42pa30rq no picture but sounds working

    Tom, I've been trying to catch you. I can't get any voltage from my PSU on the VS terminals. Is that indicating a bad PSU?
    I did disconnect the Y-Main...

  • Re: My first plasma, RCA 42PA30RQ - Sound but no picture

    Can I ask a dumb question? When I check voltage coming from the power supply board I only get 3.2 VDC on the two VS check points. Does that indicate I have a power supply problem? Or is this a feed back voltage from the X or Y boards?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Re: RCA 42PA30RQ plasma tv problem

    OK, I am hoping to get a little help now. I replaced the control board making sure not to break anything else! Now I still have no picture, black screen, audio is fine!!! I do believe with the old control board I was seeing a few flashes of light across the screen on power up but now with the replacement board, I don't even get that. My first thought is maybe I got a bad control board?
    Any suggestions on how to narrow this down would be appreciated.

  • Re: RCA 42PA30RQ plasma tv problem

    I had the exact symptoms described in this thread. Have found the top ribbon on the control board not connected properly and I broke the clasp on the control board before I could get it connected and tested. Replacement control board on the way. I will keep you posted!
