Looks interesting, probably cheaper than trying to build one yourself.

      prob lol
it seems to adjust from strips to single led's and you can test them without stripping the screen down im seriously thinking of getting one

It looks like it slowly increases voltage until a set current is reached, probably 80 to 100mA. If you are testing a single LED, the current will be reached at low voltages. If you are testing a string, the current will be reached at much higher voltages.

Yes if you service many TV's
          Brought one 1 month ago
Works brilliantly and have tested many sets , voltage goes down to the working voltage when the LED strips when they are good , otherwise it stays high . Fantastic unit saves so much time diagnosing backlight issues

sorry dont see the point/ will only show if a string is working or not,if its not you going to strip the set anyway . It does no more than you can do with your meter and the power board that is fitted in the set? just more kit you do not need

Even cheaper here, if you already have test probes.

A good stock of 9v batteries for cost and ease of use is all you need.and allways a replacement at hand when your meter starts to give you odd readings as the battery dies

no different to ebay - your dealing with an end seller *through* aliexpress

I've ordered no end of stuff from Aliexpress.
I've ordered approximately 130+ items over the last 3 years and have had three issues. Once a part didn't arrive, once they sent 100 wrong micro USB sockets and some mosfets didn't turn up. Each time i politely emailed and was either refunded, sent the correct parts and allowed to keep the wrong ones and the mosfets were resent.
I bought my BGA rework machine from Aliexpress, some of the bigger stuff i've found is already in the UK so there was no import duty and it arrived in 2 days.

You are covered by the Aliexpress guarantee and sellers are rated like ebay.
If I want something now I buy off eBay, if I can wait I get it from Aliexpress which is where most of the eBay sellers buy their stuff more anyway I'm guessing.

That tester you liked too is about £14 cheaper buying from Aliexpress.

The one I ordered has arrived and I have had an opportunity to test it out. I agree that you don't need it but as a quick method of checking I'm happy with my purchase. Just another piece of kit in my toolbox.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

                                        Dick,
Tell us where the voltage starts when testing. I assumed that it started low and increased the voltage until a set current was reached. A poster in this thread said that it did the opposite - started high and went low. I figured that that way would pop many a single diode.
