    Backlight issue on LG 42LE5300-UC

    So, I have broken one of my rules and got an LED TV with back-lighting issues. Never had much luck with those, and this one is no different.

    TV is LG 42LE5300-UC AUSWLUR with power supply EAY60803201, LED driver board YP4247LPB and main EBU60981905.

    When you turn the TV on (with remote or button) PSU relay clicks on, back-lights turn on 2 seconds after that as well as LG welcome screen. After 3 seconds back-lights turn off, but the panel is still on when checking with flashlight test and power supply remains on until turned off by pressing he power button again.

    I have taken the panel and filters off to inspect the LED's themselves. It is an edge-lit TV. All LED's turn on with uniformed intensity, none are off or look bad. I have noticed that few LED's have a little glow to them. The glow starts when the set is turned on for those initial 2 seconds, then LED's come fully on, and then they turn completely off after 3 seconds, no glow at the end. I did take a picture of it, but it is hard to see.

    I have bypassed the main board as well, just to be sure, be removing the cable that leads to main board from PSU. I have jumped the '3.5V' pin with 'Power ON' and 'DRV On' pins on the PSU. Same problem as before.

    Caps look OK and diodes read OK on the PSU. Moving to LED driver board. I do get a 3.3V on the 'ERROR' pin when the back-lights turn off. 'DRV ON' pin remains at 3.3V at all times when PSU is on. There are 13 larger voltage regulators on the LED driver board. When the relay click on, the output voltage spikes to about 36V (I have no min/max) and immediately starts to drop until back-lights come on, then they read 0V. After back-lights turn off, the voltage again spikes to about 36V and settles anywhere from 9.2V to 10.8V on various regulators. The V1+ through V4+ contractually read 98.9V when back-lights are off or 105.5V when they are on.

    Any thoughts on what is wrong?

    OK, Black probe on the chassis, red probe on the PWM_DIM pin, then turn on the TV to see what kind of action you have on this pin when the backlights come on and go out.
    Do the same on DRV ON pin again just to be sure.
    You have 12 strings of LEDs, and those 16 devices on LED driver board are MOSFETs, not regulator ICs.

      DRV ON reads steady 2.9V at all times.
      PWM_DIM reads 3.2V when relay clicks on and when LED's are on. After the LED's turn off, the voltage gradually drops to 2.5V and then gradually picks back up to 3.2V. This "dip" happens after the LED's turn off and takes about 2 second to go from 3.2V to 2.5V and back to 3.2V.

        That is the PWM DIM is present, if it drops to 0V and stays at 0V then that will be bad, but yours are OK. So you do have all the correct signal but I m surprised that the DRV ON never change state.
        I need to look at the board layout more closely, and I am still not sure what the ERROR Voltage should be for normal operation.

          Yes the DRV ON is still steady at 2.98V. I have checked again at the P201 connector and at the driver board itself.

              HI!
              I have same issue. But i've already switched 4 led strips and PSU. I just dont understand why this is happening after replace the main culprits. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to bypass this IC AS3693 led protection to continue working without turning off led strips. Thanks!!

                I was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. What was the problem?, and was it solved. I recently picked up 2 of these tvs and both initially diagnosed as bad backlights. When turned on, the backlights flash the red logo screen. Sound and an image is clear using a flashlight. So I buy 2 sets of leds. When they arrive I take one tv apart and test the leds before removing them. OMG they all work. but I put the new ones in anyway. So I think its the power supply. I swap PS from one to the other and same results. Now here is the issue and really confused me. I reset the tv using...

                Originally the tv arrived with dimmed backlights (not failed leds) but everything else worked ok. Adjusting backlight in menu did nothing but voltage changed on dimming control pins,
                0% p_dim at 1.65v and a_dim at 1v
                50% p_dim at 3.3v and a_dim at 1.65v
                100% p_dim at 3.3v and a_dim at 2.88v

                Changed backlight leds anyway as always like to have complete peace of mind they wont fail shortly after selling the tv. No change as expected!

                Leds are 2 rows of 15 6v leds.

                On inspection of the power board found diode MBR3200 shorted so replaced with...

                Hi everyone,

                I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                🛠 Original Issue
                The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
                Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

                I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

                ⚠️ New Problem: One USB-C Port Only Works in One Orientation...

                Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate

                I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

                We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

                Acer laptop battery draining issue

                Have a acer laptop ex215-22 with motherboard part no daz8emb18a0 the issue is the battery gets drain overnight upto 25-30 percent even when switched off / shutdown.even after ssd is removed and laptop off with button the battery keeps draining.i have updated the bios but same issue have tried another new battery and the charging works fine only issue is battery is discharging when connected to motherboard in off condition.
                Help me to diagnose this issue as there is no shortage in the inputs MOSFET
