jvc LT-50A330 ....tv powers on with green light and has sound..there is a picture but no backlight....i tested and got 24v from ps to led driver board.....im thinking its a bad driver board but could be bad led lamps?

What output do you get on the drive at the end where the Leds plug in ? If you have 24v you probably have a bad Led.

But do you have BL-ON and the Dim command signals?
Pictures of the whole back of the TV so we can see all the boards and pictures of the whole board of each board.

yes i have 3v blon and 24v

i have not checked the output voltages on the board that go to the leds

only the inputs from ps

How about the Dim command? DIM = 0V = no backlights.

and i dont see dim pin here are pics

of the input and output area on driver board which i do have 24v coming in from ps

Your dim control is labeled E_Pwm. Do you get 24v at the output plug where the Led plug into ?

havent checked output at led....im not at home

what should e-pwm be? voltage

ok checked output voltages on driver board and get 0v

so i have ordered a driver board on ebay got it for 23.00 shipped...not bad

will keep updated when comes in and installed

unless it has a bad led and the bad led fried the driver board?

that woukld be a bad situation....

Normally you should get 24v on the output, let us know what happens. A bad Led wont cause the driver to fail.

i dont get 24v at the outputr i just checked i get 0v

Thats what im saying, you should normally get 24v if you dont the driver is probably at fault.

thats sad...u cant turn up more than 50 or led goes bad?....how cheap.......all electronics are junk nowadays.....bring back the good ol days when things last decades or even centuries not months lol

Very true its all shit, the thing is turning the brightness down reduced current and voltage going to the leds. Which means they run cooler and can work longer. However Leds in tv backlights just dont cope very well with the amount of current in general not a very reliable solution. So running them at a lower voltage will help them last longer.

Led lcds cant beat a good old Plasma picture and reliability wise. I have seen a Fujitsu plasma with over 60,000 hours on the clock still working fine. I only obtained it to clean out and check over everything. That was a year ago still going today, thats what you call a reliable tv !

general question......is it worth repairing pre 2009 lcd tvs?.....or not even worth it?.....i may buy a toshiba 37AV502U that has power issues.....for $20

honestly the older lcd tvs seem better built....mire steel in them and multiple boards....the tvs now are all plastic and all in one boards....they just feel cheap.....i actually dont like light weight items...to me it means cheap made....
