Sharp used to make repair kits for the 60 to 70" sets. I kept the pdf at shop but i cant get to it untill June 3rd. I will check to see if you found the instructins. it tells you how to take it apart. if you cant find it Iwill post it when i get back to shop. Its better than nothing

I laid it on the screen and lifted the backplate including LEDs. I figured it would be too difficult to lift the LCD.

The more difficult is to put the backplate back on the LCD (positioning).
try that tomorrow.

But please if you find it post it anyway, for the next set. :-)

I put everything back together and it works. They are really driving 32 LEDs with 188V.

The one shorted LED is visible but it's still very watchable.

Spending $80+ for a new strip for a repair with uncertain outcome I preferred it this way.
