Re: Weird blurry -no-picture on Plasma TC-P60S30
It's similar to the problem towards the end of this thread so might be a "panel problem"

Weird blurry -no-picture on Plasma TC-P60S30
Hi
This TV has no picture, or nothing that resembles a real picture, just some slowly changing blurry forms and pixels. It ends up having a jumping white square in the middle, presumably the "no source connected" message, I guess.
Front LED turns on normal. Vsus is 209.8V. +15Vc is ok also.
Power semiconductors on all boards tested, ok. SS and SC board LEDs are lit. (Tnpa5400 and Tnpa5399)
I should mention the TV was extremely dusty when I got it.
What else could I test?
Thanks...

Toshiba 40L1400 firmware
Hi,
In a 40L1400 I have a dead mainboard. Replaced the mainboard with a similar one, TV turns on but picture is inversed and has wrong colors. Swapped the EEPROMs, TV does not turn on with new board but old EEPROM, so I presume the old eeprom is defective/has corrupt data.
Any way to choose the correct panel model from a service menu like in other TVs or do I have to replace the EEPROM (that's intact but has wrong data)?
Panel is U400EF01 TA101. Original dead mainboard: 431C7151L11
I tried getting into the service menu with the "mute"...

UN50F6400 turns off after exactly 54s
Anyone has an idea what's going on with this TV?
IMO the mainboard is gone crazy.
The TV turns on and works for exactly 54s, picture, sound, inputs all ok. Then turns off after exactly 54s.
What I did so far:
1. Measured all PSU voltages, all good
2. Removed cable from PSU to Mainboard, backlight turns on and stays on. Put cable back in place.
3. measured BLU_ON, PSU_ON and OD_ON. BLU_ON goes off first, then PSU_ON after 50ms, the PSU shuts down
4. one at a time, removed LVDS, removed bluetooth module, removed Wifi module, no change....

SHARP Aquos not starting up
This is not a request for help but a possible remedy for stuck Sharp TVs.
Model Number: LC-60LE660U
Symptom: Doesn't start, Front LED turns white, backlight is on, but no picture.
Sharp logo will appear depending on adjustment in the menu.
I followed the instructions in this link and , oh wonder!, it worked!:

This is probably the same issue for other Sharp TVs, so you might...

Re: Bravia kdl 55ex640 vertical green lines
I was so sure to have a panel fault that I didn't even think of heating/cooling the boards.
Finally it's an area under a processor on the mainboard that is sensitive to heat/cold but not to bending/pushing... Sometimes the picture is ok sometimes not
Gave it a hot air solder station sweep but didn't work. Now I first have to ask the TVs owner if he wants to take the risk attempting to repair the board. Probably an BGA chip (it's under a shield, not visible) or some via or some ceramic capacitor etc.

Re: Bravia kdl 55ex640 vertical green lines
ok here is another pic.
The moire is due to my cellphone camera. It is vertical green lines.
The appear anywhere where it's supposed to be black. Like when I turn on the TV for a second while there is no picture yet the whole screen looks like this....Last edited by paulstef; 04-29-2018, 01:40 PM.

Re: Bravia kdl 55ex640 vertical green lines
yes, it also shows on menu. whenever it should be black I suppose... In the attached pic the little green dots are not supposed to be there....
The smearing effect makes me think this cannot be caused by TCon or others..
On TCON my VGMA voltages are good (in sequence).
I had maybe 6 Sonys on my table in 3 years or so and all of them were unrepairable......Last edited by paulstef; 04-29-2018, 01:31 PM.

Bravia kdl 55ex640 vertical green lines
This TV has vertical green lines whereever there is supposed to be black.
There is also some smearing effect.
I'd say it looks like a panel failure but maybe somebody has some good news for me?...

Re: toshiba 50l1350u wont turn on
Anyone has a cheaper source than this mega-expensive ebay seller?

Chip costs probably less than a buck...Re: toshiba 50l1350u wont turn on<br...DEVSdqgb[/url]

Re: LC70LE550U no pic
Anyway, I want to thank you both.
So these circuits must be redundant then. I wonder if this would work on other smaller panels too, I have several of them laying around...

Re: LC70LE550U no pic
WOW!!!
I can confirm this worked!
I don't know for how long but this is incredible, remove defective parts and it works again, like you cut out a cancer.
If all repairs were like this!! Like, ok, TV doesn't turn on, remove the PSU, hahaha.
Now if I don't break anything when reassembling I'll have a really nice TV, can't really sell it in good faith...
Thanks
If it doesn't hold up I'll update this thread...

Re: LC70LE550U no pic
Yes I'm very good with soldering but there are no shorted or low resuistance ceramic caps anywhere.
Why does removing the apparently defective tabs work? I think I have to read up on how they panel actually works. :-D...

LC70LE550U no pic
Please someone tell me that this TV is not scrap.
Picture works great but turns off after a few seconds. Backlight stays on, sound stays on.
Replaced T-con, same problem. Apparently TCON shuts down it's output due to overcurrent/fault detection.
Removed front bezel to get access to the tab bonds / COFs. Sure enough, to the right there are two, the first and third from the bottom that heat between 50 deg C and up to 100 deg C within a matter of seconds. All the bottom COF stay at about 40 deg C, all COF on the left side stay at about 25 deg C.

Re: Need service mode access for RCA TV
I ended up cutting one of the two big 5R1 resistors to drop the LED current from almost 600mA(!!!) to less than 300mA. Crazy how much current they drive through these poor LEDs.
