Insignia NS-LCD26A no VGA or HDMI

    Hi,

I recently acquired an Insignia NS-LCD26A TV. The TV works with an antenna feed attached to it. My problem is that since the TV has a VGA input I was considering using it as a large monitor. I connected the laptop to the TV, activated the dual display on the laptop, switched the TV to VGA and nothing, just a black screen with no vga displayed on it. I have also tried connecting a Sony PS3 to the TV through the HDMI ports and got a similar message from the TV.

I assumed that this inability to display a different input was a fault of the main system board, so I replaced it, nope same problem. Next I tried replacing the power supply (some flickering is noticed when the TV has no signal, but isn't noticed when connected to the antenna). The replacement power supply didn't solve the issue either.

Does anyone have a suggestion of what I'm missing and what to try next? The TV works fine as a TV, but both the VGA and HDMI do not work (I didn't try the component input). I'm new to diagnosing TV problems, but have been fixing PC's for years. Obviously, I've got some things to learn here.

    Thanks
    Frank

Did you try your laptop on a different TV / monitor with the same cables?

some tvs are strange, my android device won't display on my sony, unless I choose the hdmi port first, have tv on, then turn on the device, maybe try choosing hdmi port, then turning on your device, is your hdmi and pc ports enabled in the menu?, maybe a software update would put it right, if ones available.

Re: Insignia NS-LCD26A no VGA or HDMI

          Thanks everyone,

So far I have tried using both the VGA and HDMI ports with no success. The TV turner works fine and I get a picture, but when I connect anything to VGA or HDMI the screen just stays black.

I have tried entering the reset codes, that hasn't resolved the issue.

The computer I used for the VGA signal was just used in a presentation. It was connected to a LCD projector and worked fine. I have also tried a second laptop and it didn't work either. (I've even tried different VGA cables).

I did replace the system board with a different board. No change in the results. It is always possible that the replacement board could have an issue, but it seems unlikely to me that two boards would have exactly the same problem and there be no other conversation on the net about the issue.

The only significant part left to replace is the T-Con board. It just seems odd to me (but I'm no expert here), that the tuner works fine, but VGA and HDMI do not (I didn't try the composite, nor component).

Thanks for the suggestions, your input is welcome, this is certainly becoming a learning experience for me.

Does the laptop recognize that the TV is there as a second screen?

I tried the Insignia website. I found it when I searched on NS-LCD26. The unit pictured is the set I'm working on.

The model number printed on the back of the TV does says NS-LCD26A though.

May be the resolution is too high for it to display? 720 is the max res. You will usually see "Format not supported".

Yes, when the VGA cable is plugged into both the laptop and TV, the laptop adjusts its resolution, but nothing on the TV. The only thing that appears on the screen is a box that says "no signal."

No message of resolution not supported. I've also tried connecting my Playstation 3 to the TV using the HDMI port, again, nothing.

Yes, I tried a different HDMI cable. I actually tried a different source for the HDMI signal too, again, nothing. The monitor just says no signal.

                          Thanks

Marantz SR4003 AVR HDMI board issue, seeking for help

I have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.

                              Connection as below:
                              Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.

I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
                              3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port

                              I replaced all...

With a setup including a TV and AV receiver where HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and Audio Return Channel (ARC) functions were working, these two functions stopped working after changing some connections (not the one between the AV receiver and TV), so I believed it was a corrupt setting in the AV receiver or TV, but when I disconnected a passive DisplayPort-HDMI cable (which a Multimode DisplayPort connector supports HDMI with a low cost passive cable or adaptor) connected to a home theatre PC, HDMI CEC and ARC functionality was restored.

                              Toshiba 50UL2063DB randomly rebooting with HDMI-CEC and/or HDMI-ARC enabled
                              by spleenharvester
I have this TV hooked up to only an AppleTV 4K and a Creative soundbar. Originally HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC wouldn't work at all, I replaced all the HDMI cables with decent UGREEN cables meeting the latest standards, now it all works perfectly but once or twice a day the TV itself reboots while watching a program, the AppleTV keeps running. I haven't fully pinned down whether it is ARC or CEC causing it yet. All are running latest firmware.

I assume it is just HDMI-CEC being buggy as usual on a shitty Vestel machine, but can anyone think of anything I can try before disabling it?

LG LCD TV picture comes on intermittenly using hdmi port. The sound is on permantly. The hdmi ports looks fine and soldered in securely. The 3.4v coming to the main board is not present(not sure if will affect the hdmi port or where that voltage goes.)The hdmi cable is fine because it works on another tv.The ceramic caps connected to the hdmi controller ic is reading 39 ohms.Could the hdmi controller ic be faulty(feels very warm to touch). The RCA jacks work normally .Thank you in advance for your assistance..

I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...
