People on eBay have some real delusions when they think their 50 year old oscilloscope is worth £500 because it's a "collector's item". Especially pisses me off to see faulty equipment never sold for hundreds of pounds - I'd happily pay £50 for a faulty signal generator, but who in their right mind pays 80% of the working price?

But, as long as there are people buying them, there will be people selling them.

Look at this one. I was going to try to get this myself, but it's only got 2.5k memory.

Seriously don't bother with any low end Tek scope, they are just rubbish in my opinion.

The sad thing is most of these companies don't sell the items they have, but they keep relisting because they hope for a stupid or desperate buyer. Now and then they pop up, but it's rare. Ugh.

Before I decided on the Rigol, I meant. I can't understand why someone would pay $300+ for, I think, an 11 year old scope. Also, I'm not 100% sure the DS1054Z can still be hacked the way it was before. I guess they patched it when they fixed the jitter issue. I wonder if you can downgrade the firmware though. I'll look into it. I'm sure it could be reflashed to an earlier version through JTAG if all else failed.

Hello, colleague! Please turn its attention to the RigoI ds2072. This unit can display pixel display with different brightness. Very good and very inexpensive oscilloscope.I use an oscilloscope with a bandwidth of 60 MHz, it is sufficient for reliable determination of signal lines lvds.

It is a nice scope. Better than DS1054Z if you only need two channels. But more expensive, so not necessarily worth it for the average TV repair.

Definitely nice, but not within my price range.

I use an ATTEN ADS 1062CAL 60hz (on loan to me till I don't need it anymore), seems to work pretty good. I am also still learning out how to use it!

You could always buy it and replace the capacitors

Seriously, though, if I had the money to spare I would buy a 1054Z. It looks like a tremendous bargain for the price despite it's budget-oriented design!

This place has them for $399 plus they give a 6% discount if you mention EEVBLOG. You just have to open a chat window with them or actually call to mention the discount and they'll do up a quote order with the discount on it for you. Free shipping for those in the continental USA, too. That's a pretty sweet deal! They basically can't keep them in stock.

I didn't see that earlier today. They also give you a free voltage detector, something I need anyway because the button broke on my Milwaukee one and I have to turn it on with a screwdriver.

That is quite a lot of scope for the price and if it will do what you need it to do then I would say your getting a good buy. It is way cheaper then a Iphone and you will probably have way more fun with it.

I would never own an Iphone. Too many restrictions. I prefer the freedom to choose what apps I want, and where I get them from.

I love it. All one would have to do is drop their Why phone and oh well. I guess one would have to be rich to own one in the first place.

                                            Hello everyone!
The Asrock A380 low profile card (ID 8086 56A5 - 1849 6006) have an power limit of 45W. Intel removed the possibility to increase power using the software utility, anyway the card is in an proxmox machine that doesn't run windows.
The same hardware is in another form by the name Asrock A380 Challenger that have the same VRMs and the power limit is at 60W. I searched online and found on another website an .bin bios file from the Challenger variant, that I flashed using an CH341a. Flashng worked well, I put the card in PC and booted. GPUz shows that new device ID is 8086...

                                            Hello.
I have jut got my first analogue oscilloscope. An Isotech 620 20MHz.

I want to learn how not to damage it, and I found instructions on the internet obscure.
They talk about ground, earth, floating ground, this, that....
But they don't actually say anything anything useful so far.

                                            I want to know:
Don't connect exactly this to exactly there or it blows up.

For example, I am tracing a signal from a function generator in an audio amp, or testing for voltages in different parts of a circuit.
I want to know what not to connect...

                                            Dynamco analogue oscilloscope

I have recently acquired a Dynamco D7100 analogue oscilloscope without a user manual. As this is the first time I have owned or used an oscilloscope I would like to try and find an instruction book. The manufacturers no longer hold any information and a Google search only found one site but when I downloaded a 'service manual' all I got was gobbledegook. Any help would be gratefully appreciated or even pointers to a generic manual where I could learn more.

                                            Hi,
I have a PGOOD pin down on this chip and I’m wondering if it could be because there is 5,2 v on VREG5 ( the high limit according to the datasheet is 5,1v ).
if yes, why is it to high?
                                            the motherboard board is LA-G881P.
                                            thank you.

                                            here is some measurements :
                                            • VIN = 16,3 V
                                            • VREG3 = 3,299 V
                                            • VREG5 = 5,203 V
                                            • SW2 (repos) = 3,423 V, pikes at ~16,4 V
                                            • VBST2 = 8,592 V → VBST2 − SW2 = ≈ 5,17 V
                                            • VO1 = 5,28 V (stable)
                                            • EN1 = 3,08 V, EN2 = 3,04 V
                                            • VFB1/VFB2 ≈ 2,1 V
                                            ...

Some of you have helped me in the past and I am very appreciative of all the help! (I have fixed TVs/Stereos/ and other small appliances with your efforts...Thanks so much!!!

Today I went to a local HAM Radio Festival. It was one of the smaller ones in our area. My stepfather is the HAM operator. I tinker in electronics but am a Software Programmer (27 years now).

I was looking for a few odds and ends for some electronics work I have to do for the household/farm. Typically these type of shows have the grab bags or a electronics vendor...
