soniq L42S10A rev AA, diode identification!

hey guys, i have a soniq tv with power supply DPS-198BP B rev:00
also used in some vizio and lg sets.

the diode in location D802 (under heat sink/shield), had a major failure.
i can't make out much on it.
cathode end- IN__3G, well from what i can tell.
anode end- 600 or 009 depending on which way you look at it.

any assistance on this one would be great.

Maybe put a 3 amp 1000 volt fast recovery diode, looks like the full current of the power supply runs through it. I'm sure someone here as a power supply like that, I don't

what was in D803? I would compare D803 with D802. What ever it was it must have had a quite high voltage rating.

They are usually Ultra fast rectifiers, 4A 600V or higher. I.E. MUR460L

          d803 is a fur460, 4a 600v, ultra fast.
i don't think that i have any laying around, so when i get some in, i'll let you know how it turns out.

          thanks heaps guys.

Ok, update time. Got the diode back in the board and also found q801 shorted (k3569). Now i have standby but a short in one of the other rails. I have gone over all that i can think of, but can't find the short. Any help would be great.

I figured, that there has to be something else gone too. Did you clean up all of the burnt carbon? That stuff is conductive. So the 5v STBY works. So what makes you think there is another short? Got to be a bit more specific.

Carbon is as clean as possible. I have it on the bench at the moment with globes across the fuse holder. When powered up, i get 330v on the main filter cap and standby voltages are present. When i jump ps on to stand by the globes strobe on and off on a 1 sec/2sec repeating sequence. So now I'm trying to work out what is dragging it down.

Take the lamps out of the fuse holder and put a proper fuse in it. Force the PS on and check.

Well that surprised me, it didn't blow the fuse. I am getting a chirping noise from the main transformer. Time to throw it back in the set for a load test.

Hmmmm. Standby led went from Red to blue, the squeal from the transformer increased, and then the fuse failed violently.

Oh! I hope the PS is still O.K. and it just took out the fuse. There must be a dead short to ground somewhere. Check the boards you plugged into the PS.

It took out q801 again, so changed it out and it is back to it's previous state. I feel like I'm missing something, but i don't know what.
