LG 60PS80-UA Plasma: All HDMI Inputs Show "No Signal"

Anyone familiar with this issue? Thanks for any help!

While watching the TV through an HDMI1 input (cable box), screen went to "no signal" screen saver mode and will now not accept input from any of the HDMI ports. When I switch inputs, it says "HDMI2 Connecting..." and then back to "no signal" - the same for all 4 HDMI ports. It recognizes that an outside device is trying to connect -e.g. turning on the blu ray DVD player - prompts the TV to ask if I want to change input to HDMI3. When I click yes, it says "HDMI3 connecting..." then "no signal".

I have uplugged the TV and left it that way overnight. Unplugged and replugged all the HDMI cables, but this is clearly a problem with all ports not being able to recieve a signal.

Is there another fix to "reset" the HDMI ports? (By the way, I connected through the composite RCA connectors, and that works as a temporary fix).

I have read that a factory reset might help, but cannot find out how to do a factory reset on this model (even on the factory reset sticky...).

    I'd appreciate any guidance!

Try this: hold MENU on TV and MENU on remote, if prompted for password enter one of: 0000, 1234, 3142 or 0413.

tom66 - thanks for the quick reply.

I can get to the "hidden" or service menu using the steps you described (passcode 0000). But there is no factory reset or other reset in any of the 10 options, at least that I can find... Frustrating!

Thanks again and God bless you,

Post a photo of the Service Menu, sometimes Factory Reset is not labeled clearly, could be named something else.

tom66 & shinju- my first picture attachments -- I tried to photo everything that even had the word reset in it! Anything look like it will do the trick?

Oh yes, LG is super cryptic. I don't recall the exact steps but I think there was another menu that would pop up when trying to access this one and I changed a setting in System and it reset the TV.

I think you might have to have the special LG service menu remote control for some of these newer LG panels. Mine was a 42LH50-UC same Service menu from the looks of yours. I wish now I would have wrote down the steps, unfortunately I don't have the LG panel anymore or I would backtrack and help.

You need a new main board, same thing happened to my 60 in Lg I repaired the old main board by replacing the HDMI switch IC 144 pin IC chip that controls the HDMI ports, about $9.00 shipped from china.

                    tom66, et al,

I did find a place to reset HDMI inputs on EDID/IL. Did that, it said "rewriting" for all the ports, then showed OK - but no help.

tom66 or other knowledgeable techs -- is there any specialized knowledge I'll need to replace the main board - any manuals, etc. to use?

On tom66's site I found a powerpoint training manual on the 50PS60 which is a similar but not identical model...

Thanks for all the help! You folks are awesome.

                    God bless you,

                      tom66 & others:

I have the back off my TV -- wow was that fun!

The main board part number is EBT60722602 for the 60PS80-UA-AUSLLJR (service code).

There are no used boards out there for this model that I can find. However, there are plenty of EBT60722601 boards on Ebay for the 50PS80. They look identical in terms of ports.

Is there anychance they are interchangeable?

I'd appreciate any input. Paying $80 - $100 for a used board is reasonable to see if it works. $350+ for a new board = get new TV...

                      Thanks for any help!

                      God bless you,

50PS80 should work ok. The only thing is if your 60PS80 has additional features, like say some kind of smart/DLNA features that the 50" does not have, you will lose those.

tom66 - as always thanks for your selfless help! The boards do look identical; I guess it's worth $80 to take a shot anyway.

We don't use any advanced features on the TV - the circa 2009 LG widgets don't add much functionality...

I'll just buy the 50PS80 board and see how that works unless you have any last-minute misgivings...

Thanks again and God bless you,

Sears parts direct for the EBT60722601 = $256.99

Sears parts direct for the EBT60722602 = $477.74

                            Any cause for concern?

                                    tom66 and others,

I bought a 50PS80-UA board from eBay and popped it in last night -- works perfectly. Looks like the LG plasma lives to fight another day.

Thanks for your help. What an awesome forum; and tom66 in particular you really helped me go for it -- I wouldn't (and couldn't) have done this without you.

P.S. -- for someone with no TV tech background, this really was simple. LG and others have made it fairly easy to repair their units.

I have the same LG 60PS80 with the same problem. But instead of blue streaks--mine was red. I pulled the board with the inputs and baked it in the oven (supported at the corners) at 375 degrees for 9 minutes--turned off the oven and opened for door for 30 minutes. Popped it back in and no more red streaks. Stunk up the whole house.

It's referred to as "reflowing" the solder. I did the same thing for an HP laser printer and brought it back to life--got the idea from a printer forum.

NOW, the remote (or any remote) won't work???????????????? No light on the TV or anything.

I'm troubleshooting a Philips MDP 3380/12 Blu-ray player that shows no signs of life. The display remains off, and no buttons respond.

Inside, the power supply is working correctly, and all expected voltages on the mainboard match the service manual specifications. The CPU warms up slightly (checked with a thermal camera), the crystal oscillator is functioning, but the reset signal remains high at all times.

The reset circuit appears to consist of two NPN transistors, one driven by 5V VCC and the other by 3.3V STBY, as shown in the attached schematic. Should the reset...

Garage door RX unit (Cardin S38C) does not short relay to send opening signal

                                          Hello everyone,

I'm turning to the Badcaps community to help me troubleshoot the radio Rx card from my (old) garage door opener. While I could just ditch that card and replace the whole system, I first would like to understand "why" it suddenly stopped working, because that's just how I am wired...!

Some basics: the receiver works on a 30.875 Mhz frequency. Yes, I'm aware this is not in use anymore in a looot of places. It does not use any rolling code, it's just a regular dip-switch code that you have to set up on both the receiver and transmitter. The receiver...

                                          any hint?

                                          AVR-2802 no audio, chip questions
                                          by MasterCap
I do some hobby repairs mainly of my own junk, and I don't know much programming level repair/mods.

I got the AVR-2802 over the weekend, sold as working of course, and it worked for 1 night, using EXT. IN 5.1CH jacks, then after power down, the audio never came back. I've reset it, and get nothing on EXT IN or PHONO, despite having everything set right, hooked up right. I can hear lots of relays work tho.

I just want it for 5.1CH analog inputs , for PC surround sound. I'm not worried about the video or most of the digital stuff for now.

                                          So far I've traced...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

                                          Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                                          Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...
