      Re: Insignia ns-42pdp (lg pdp42x30000)

wait...I was wrong on 2 of the mosfets...
      1 of them is bad..on all G,D and S

Now for the other 2 FDA59N25 Mosfets,
I get NO readings at every configuration of test leads except when neg is on D and pos is on S...I get a reading of 507 on both of these mosfets..

There was a small layer of solder on the bottom of the mosfet that I didn't notice until I looked over them again..causing the short.

When I reinstalled the Y board I got nothing on the screen...I then reinstalled the Y buffer and when I powered up the tv I got a small flash from the screen..you could see snow momentarily and then the screen would go black. I got this 3 times powering on the tv.

Ok, that means only one is failed (which is expected)

Did you get -Vy when the short was removed?

If -Vy is good: There's no harm in trying if the circuit is already bad: Install the two good ones. See if you get an image on the panel. If you do, turn the TV off, and order all three as replacements (possible that the others have been "wounded" by the other failure so for continued longevity, I would always replace the set.)

Hopefully -200V. But if it's still at ~25V there is a further fault on this board.
Maybe time to look at the -Vy module but I've never heard of a repair of one of the modules.

Just to make sure...what setting should be used on the meter to measure this?

Ok..I put the 2 FDA 59N25 mosfets back in..turn the power on and got a Vy reading at 024..
When the set powered up I have a screen showing snow and now I have the "no signal" message floating around the screen!

Hmm, is the NO SIGNAL clear and OK, or is it very distorted, barely visible?

No, it is clear and very readable...
It also had the message in the upper right corner of "video" and then it goes off and the "no signal" then pops up and starts floating around the screen...all the messages are very clear

oh...while the "video" was on the was a darker band the same width of the video message that ran from top to bottom of the screen.

Put a antenna on it and programmed the channels..turned it to a local HD channel and got a good picture and sound...you can see what looks like faint red snow in the picture..like red sparkle is the only way I can describe it..it doesn't over ride the picture but you can see it...does that my description may any sense?

Yes that's a common fault with LG plasmas. The control board needs to be reflashed with corrected firmware. There's a guy on here (capkid) doing the repairs for about $30.

I'd make sure to replace the missing MOSFET before running it too long.

I'm still not sure what to make of your -Vy voltage. With a very low -Vy I'd expect a lot of picture issues. I'm guessing that you are making a measurement error with that - perhaps your meter is in error? Maybe try using 200V range.

                                    Ok...checking at the 200v range I get a reading of 16.7 to 17.00
Along with the faint red snow the picture will sort of flicker like the brightness is jumping..its not bold just sort of faint

Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...

If You Tried To Turn The Set Back On, The LED Standby Light Would Blink Rapidly Until You Released The Remote Button. Too Fast For Flash Codes. Once Plugged Back In, The Set Would Work Fine, Sometimes For Months. I Took The Back Off Of It, As The Was Some Distorted Pixels On The Right Side About 1/2...

Insignia NS-LCD19-09 no standby LED; (new problem)
                                            by valvashon
Having a new problem with the 19" Insignia that I modified with one of my automatic turn on circuits. That is now completely disconnected so that is not the issue. I was doing some modifications on that circuitry and managed to short something out on the underside of the power board.
Actually found and bought the service manual (who knew it was even available?!) which brought me to the High Voltage Startup Circuit controller chip.
Looking up that chip number- LD7575APS brought me to the attached datasheet. I have marked my voltage readings on the schematic sheet (open in new...

Insignia NS-43D420NA20 backlight on no display - LCD panel burn failure
                                            by howardc64
Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
                                            • Backlight on, no image
                                            • Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
                                            • Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
                                            • Buffer board is pretty simple
Removed the front bezel to examine edge of the glass. Found burn mark on lower right (view from front). Plastic bezel covering the burn mark region shows heat signature on the inside surface facing the LCD panel. Last 2 pics. Bright...

                                            Insignia NS-32L430A11 backlight issue
                                            by arnard
I have a weird backlight issue on the above Insignia Plasma that I am coming up empty on researching.

The display is darker on the left than on the right side of the screen. It uses 4 U shaped plasma tubes. I have had it apart deep enough to tell you that the tubes are bright as they should be at the electrode ends but dim as they get to and go around the bend.

Since it is all 4 tubes it seems like it would be an inverter/backlight board but obviously can't be a blown up component as it does still somewhat work. I'm thinking low voltage but no idea where to go beyond...
