    Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Wont power

Hey guys. New here but looking to help as much as i can aswell.

Recently was given a Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Bluray player. Does not power on whatsoever. When i plug the unit in, i can hear an eletronic whine coming from the power supply unit. I opened up the player, and looked at the fuse and all the caps, and they all seem to be intact (I dont have a meter or any knowledge for testing caps). By intact i mean no obvious buldging or exploding caps. Pretty lost with this, but id love to get it working. I can provide high-res images of the power board if needed. Thanks for anyone who can offer any wisdom or knowledge on this situation

You do not have a multimeter available? You can't hope to do any testing without one.

I was told I need an ESR meter. I have a multimetwe but have no idea how to properly test the caps with it.

Well, you do not need to test the capacitors yet, first step is to see if the power supply is working. How about a picture of the power board, and are there any labels for various voltages?

You do not NEED an ESR meter.

Any instructions on how to test caps with a multimeter? I found a guide elsewhere on the forum but it was vert vague. Also not sure what to set the multimeter to in order to test.

You can't test ESR with a multimeter. Only capacitance, if your meter supports it, and that is a misleading measurement in many cases.

So I should be testing that then right....

As I said, testing capacitance is usually misleading. It's not necessary.

Why you are so sure, that you have problems with capacitors? This in not Samsung
This player is fairly new to have capacitor issues, but course it could have issues.
I have found a SM, haven't checked it out, if it's the right one though:

I believe, that I have the same player, but mine it's working great.

Might be the light but pin7 of T1001 seems like a bad solder

                                    Re: Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Wont power

Q1171 looks like it has bad soldering too, and some components nearby. Also C1081 next to the optoisolator, and D1110

It seems that P1102 is the main output connector. You can measure the voltages there and see if they come up right. The service manual should show which pins are which rails and what the voltages are supposed to be.
