Re: Panasonic TX-50EX700B Won't Power On
Oh wow, it's pretty expensive. I got a used one on ebay anyway and the TV is alive again, confirming the A board was in fact the issue. Thanks for helping to try diagnose the issue, delighted to have it up and running again.

Re: Panasonic TX-50EX700B Won't Power On
Yeah it's definitely the TX-50EX700B that I have here. I bought this one in 2017 and my brother basically had it in his room recently only for it to just be like this when he woke up one morning with the flashing red light. Planning to use it myself again if I can get it working. It looks identical to the one above though yeah despite the R in the model.

Re: Panasonic TX-50EX700B Won't Power On
Given the fact that I tried unplugging everything and got the exact same results, I'm reluctant to assume the A board is the culprit. Even when the LED is doing that weird slow flash thing before it shows the error, each time the light goes out, there's an audible click coming from the A board which sounds like a short almost, but it still does it with everything else plugged out other than the PSU and the A board, so I was assuming that meant the A board itself has some sort of short or broken connection. Judging by the fact the board even...

Re: Panasonic TX-50EX700B Won't Power On
ok so upon further inspection, if you leave the TV plugged in for about 15 minutes, it will go through that cycle of slow flashing every 2 minutes or so, and eventually it turns into 13 flashes again. My bad, I didn't realise that it was still the same error code, it just takes a really long time to show up.

Re: Panasonic TX-50EX700B Won't Power On
Hi again. I have finally gotten around to disassembling this set again to have a look at it, I don't have a lot of room so I have to reassemble it every time lol. Anyway, I'm about to try out the above suggestion, but first, here are some better pictures. Turns out I stupidly had my camera exposure settings wrong which explains the terrible lighting...
EDIT: Having tried removing all of those cables as suggested above, it seems to always do the same thing. The red LED will come on for about 2 seconds, then go out for...Last edited by oldschoolgamer; 11-02-2022, 11:56 AM.

Re: Panasonic TX-50EX700B Won't Power On
I'll take it apart again tomorrow and take some clear pictures of it. As of now, all I have is this, which probably doesn't help very much at all given it had a flash and looks kind of compressed.

Panasonic TX-50EX700B Won't Power On
Hi. I have a Panasonic TX-50EX700B which hadn't been used very often for some time. Recently it started getting used a little more often, until one day it just refused to power on with the red LED blinking 13 times. Upon researching, it turned out it apparently had something to do with the 5v power line, so I assumed it was probably the power supply.
I purchased a power supply for the TV from a seller that claims that it works fine and was just taken from a TV with a broken screen. After fitting the new power supply and trying the TV, I was greeted with the power LED being red for...

Re: LG 42LE4500 PSU Replaced Backlight Failing Again
Right thanks everyone. I'll see what he wants to do and if he just replaces the tv I'll buy it off him and repair it myself. Probably was caused by the leds being driven too hard in the first place as you say and the firmware was probably never updated on the tv either since he got it. I think the backlight was always on 100 too but it had to be the first time it was failing otherwise it kept flickering between dim and full brightness even though it was down which I suspect was the uneven load on the driver board....

Re: LG 42LE4500 PSU Replaced Backlight Failing Again
I thought it would've been hard to replace. Yeah I'd imagine it's a bad strip since it happened again even with another PSU. Even though all the leds were lit they're probably draining a ridiculous amount of current somewhere. I'd imagine I'd have to replace 2 though since it seems to be lit from both the top and bottom from what I can see.
I thought the lcd could break trying to change the leds but maybe that's only with certain TV's. Only thing is I'd have to replace all the mosfets or just get another...Last edited by oldschoolgamer; 10-03-2017, 06:49 PM.

Re: LG 42LE4500 PSU Replaced Backlight Failing Again
Probably not worth while fixing again then when it fails since the lcd will probably just get broken trying to change the LEDs. It's just to the right of the top centre an LED is gone dark again. It's like a dark U shaped patch. It worked for a month then he said it started to flicker again so he just lowered the backlight and it stopped having problems then for 2 months until that patch went dark again.
It has 2 connections for the leds. One for the left half and one for the right half. It does look...

Re: LG 42LE4500 PSU Replaced Backlight Failing Again
I'll have look when I'm over. I'll see if the new one is burning out also. I'll bring over the multimeter and check them out to see if it'll be a cheap fix. I wouldn't mind replacing the whole psu again only what if it does the exact same thing again. The entire psu isn't too cheap either....

I can get you a new picture when I'm over there probably tomorrow but this is the original PSU that was in it when it failed....Last edited by oldschoolgamer; 10-01-2017, 06:44 AM.

LG 42LE4500 PSU Replaced Backlight Failing Again
My uncle has this LG TV since 2011 and about 2 years ago the screen started flickering brighter and darker in the top right corner then eventually that corner just stayed dark. He hasn't a lot of money so had to keep using it. Around 6 months ago it just failed altogether where the screen would light for 2 seconds and then the whole backlight would go out. I had a look at the TV for him and after inspection I just got him to order a replacement PSU because his looked all black and brown etc. I put the new one in and the TV seemed fine. I thought the bottom left and bottom right corners were a...

Re: Vestel 17mb61-2 I screwed up my TV
So I had to fix a HDCP error also but I now have 3 working 17MB61 main boards and only need one. It gives me more room to mess about with the TV's firmware and try make it look better.
Basically just posting to let people know I got it sorted and to sum it up quickly I originally started with a yellow tint. I tried to flash updated firmware thinking it would have RGB gain settings but I was wrong and ended up with a non functioning TV as I couldn't get the display working again properly. I then bricked the bootloader and ordered...Last edited by oldschoolgamer; 09-27-2017, 08:23 PM.

Re: Vestel 17mb61-2 I screwed up my TV
I fixed the tint by changing the colour temp gain on my VESTEL_D1_Plus_PNL.bin file then deleting panel.bin so it would generate a new one. I had a new problem then with my horizon box. It was a HDCP error which stopped it from viewing the channel. I had to look that up and it's for copyright protection to prevent streaming. I actually flashed the edid and that still wouldn't fix it so I had to put the new board I bought back in and change the panel file on that instead to fix the colour.
Has anyone ever experienced that problem...Last edited by oldschoolgamer; 09-26-2017, 05:21 PM.

Re: Vestel 17mb61-2 I screwed up my TV
I'll put up the files I used tomorrow. In the end it was the edid that was causing the hdmi problems and I was overlooking that. I got the edid from the other tv and renamed it to 37 instead of 42. Same with svn_revision_of_config.txt I changed it to 37 also just so the service menu says 37. I used Linux to flash the edid through hdmi but it kept reverting when the tv was restarted so I put it on a USB stick in spi/edid.edid and ran USB operations which flashed it and fixed the problem.
I still have the yellowish tint but I'm sure...

Re: Vestel 17mb61-2 I screwed up my TV
I'll make a one drive link and pm you the link to the files. I'll put my conf into a zip and send the closest working firmware I have (apart from the conf folder which I'm inserting afterwards.
