    Samsung LN46B640R3FUZA blinking power light.

    Hey all!

Since I am waiting for parts for a couple of panels, I figured I would pop this one up to help me thin the herd.

This unit will not power up, when pressing the power button on the remote/unit the LED blinks until I unplug it.

If I pull the connector to the mainboard from the PS the CCFL lamps come on when I plug the unit in.

The suffix FUZA doesn't pull up a lot of information so I am not sure were to look next.

The power supply pn is BN44-00265B

    Photos attached.

    Thanks!

If you disconnected the cable between the power supply and the main board, then we know at least that the inverter circuit is OK, now you need to check the standby voltage pin with and without the main board connected to see if the standby voltage will maintain the output voltage, if it does, then try disconnecting the cable between the T-CON and the main board to see if you can turn on the TV and have backlights.

I did pull the cable from mainboard to t-con and panel would not come on.

      I will test standby voltage.

        Pin connector.

Seems to be getting 5.1 at the SB pin with mainboard disconnected.

Going to go with a bad mainboard for this one too. I farmed another "working" power supply and it's doing the same thing, blinking when Everything is connected, back lights come on when mainboard is disconnected.

I did notice the eathernet port yellow light flashing once every 5-6 seconds.

Tons of mainboard variants for this unit.

If anyone state side has a working MB they want to sell let me know!

Re: Samsung LN46B640R3FUZA blinking power light.

So I got a replacement mainboard and the panel fired right up. My question is how do I find the proper panel type to switch it in the service menu?

The mainboard was out of a LN37B650 and is set for a 37", I looked a service and training manuals but couldn't find panel type selection for this unit. The auto panel type is failing even after a firmware upgrade.

The picture is fine, fits on the screen but in dynamic, standard and natural the picture is super bright and kind of washed out like a bad as-15g chip starting to go. When in movie mode the picture looks amazing, deep blacks no issues at all.

Could the wrong panel type not being set correctly cause this issue?

              /help! lol

I looked at Toms Service Manuals site and I could not find the 640, I did see the 630 and the 650 even those did not have the panel type settings for each size in those line ups!

Does the original mainboard have a code on it for panel type/size in case of a MB failure that the tech can read since they cannot access the SM due to the dead board?

Chances are the t-Con is probably the culprit, the gamma issue is not getting any worse and I left it on for 8+ hours straight. To me its almost like a setting is not set right as the Dynamic mode when enabled is stupid bright for example.

              Thanks!

Did you check if DDR is set to LINE or SAMSUNG, also check LVDS FORMAT, try JEIDA or VESA. Do you have any control over the panel setting at all?

Re: Samsung LN46B640R3FUZA blinking power light.

I have total control of the SM, I believe it set to VESA. I did try to change those to JEIDA or PDP and the picture was all solorized/rainbow acid trip effect.

DDR was set to 0 i think, could only switch between 1 and 2 and 0 no Samsung or LINE options.

I could snap shot the SM options if that helps. I can do that later this evening.

I did however install the firmware for that panel and it did change options and added more options to the panel via the SM but the panel type and size stayed the same.

                  Currently its set to:

                  Type 37L1UFC1
                  Model LN37B650

                  I have this screenshot.
