I ended up getting another board but unfortunately the lines remained. The buffer board has an issue i can't fix.... -
I don't really see any bad solder on the board so i was wondering what i can check next? The board is the tcon/ps/main all in one....Leave a comment:

Ok i will look closely. This TV only has this one board so is the buzzing the cause of the lines?

What is this and is it the cause of the lines? This model has the main and power board together and no tcon....

I tested the ones around it and all of them are 100 ohms the one that's short is 0.
Ah ok that makes sense thank you for the info! I'll be pumped if replacing it fixes the TV I just wish i had checked the buffer board or driver board before buying a tcon replacement....Leave a comment:

Y'all will find this interesting too. I tried the tape fix and if the right screen side of the tcon(tape on ribbon cable) is connected the picture does not show and there are lines on the left side which works if only that sides ribbon cable is connected.

Ok that makes sense about both sides being disconnected.
So I'm guessing disconnecting/reconnecting the ribbon cable did this? Now one side shows picture....Leave a comment:

That would be a bummer. I also disconnected both left and right at the same time from tcon and the lines went away, though I'm not sure if that means anything useful?

I found another TV by the road and took it home to try and fix it. This one has vertical lines as seen in the pic. I've disconnected both of the ribbons going from the tcon to panel one at a time and still see lines. Is the tcon board bad?...Last edited by JRyan; 10-31-2023, 06:04 PM. -

So I replaced the led strips and see why its best to replace all, 1 strip had all working. Unfortunately it looks like the people who put it to the road dropped the screen.
oh well
My 50" LG tv backlight just went out so that'll be my next project. Is there a way to see if the screen is busted before replacing parts?...Leave a comment:

There's only 2 and neither being connected alone causes the backlight to come on

So unplug the cable from power supply to main board? So the only thing plugged in is the cable on top right of ps?
I did and plugged power in and no backlight comes on at all. Did i do something incorrectly?Leave a comment:

Saved this TV from the trash but it will not power on the red power indicator light blinks 6 times with no display. I've attached pics of the power board(1st pic) and mainboard(2nd pic). Hey y'all I'm new here but have been an electronics tinkerer for years. I was an IT technician and enjoy working on computers and tvs(ive fixed my tv 3 times). I get lots of enjoyment from it.
