Hello friends!
I got this for free, got it home and plugged it in, I turned it on and I see the blue power light and nothing else, I started to hear a high pitch squeal and and after a minute that went away.
Fast Forward a couple of weeks, I finally get some time to tear it down and before doing so I hooked it up to a source to see if there was audio and there was, you can also see a picture with a light to the screen YAY mainboard is good!
Anyway so I broke it down and after tearing the back off I see the PS/Inverter are on the same board... Ugh, Also saw that the bottom transformer was pretty melted eeps!
So I pulled the board out and this is what I found! (see below)
Question, I see the people have had luck with replacing the single blown transformer and the panel has been working fine, on the other hand MOST who have done that single transformer fix find out they blow the new one in about 10-40 seconds.
Should I replaced all 3? The blue caps next to the formers have no markings on them at all at least none that I can see should I replace all those too?
Or should I just try and find a donor board and toss this one out?
I want to know if anyone has figured out what causes this to happen so it can try to be prevented?! This seems to be a very common affliction on this series of Westies!
Thanks!
