I have an LG 55LS4500 which I picked up for cheap because all it displayed was a black screen. The sound worked when hooked up to a source. In the lower left corner, there is a lighter patch which can be seen here:

I pulled it all apart and managed to get some images to display by reseating the ribbon cables onto the T-Con board. When both the left and right ribbon cables are hooked up, I generally get a mess of lines which is shown here though sometimes I get the source image, albeit in negative colors.

When I disconnect the left ribbon cable, leaving the right connected, the right side of the screen shows the source in negative with no lines (the left side is black).

When the left ribbon cable is the only one attached, you get a similar display as when both are ribbon cables are connected (the right side is black). There are narrow lines that didn't turn up well in the picture.

I know there a good chance the panel is at the fault. The only reason I haven't pulled it apart and parted it out is because of the weirdness of the T-con. If when only the right ribbon cable is connected, shouldn't you get half the screen perfectly instead of the inverted colors I get? Additionally, the T-con board get VERY hot when the unit is running for a just a few minutes; hot enough that it can definitely burn you if you touch it for more than a split second. There is no visible damage to the board though.
In regards to the light patch on the bottom left side, the panel itself does not appear to be damaged, lines and pixels running through it fine, it just looks to be lighter for some reason. The lines change when the unit is left on but I think it is because of the T-con getting hotter; pressing on the side for of LCD panels does nothing, nor does slight twisting, moving the T-con board or attached cables, or anything else. The longer the TV is on, the worse it gets.
Is it possible the panel is not the culprit and the T-con is in fact the problem Thanks for your help!
