I got the TV taken apart again. The plugins that were attached to the new LED strips got ripped off because of the tight wires.

I'm going to order some new ones and when I install those, I'm going to remove the tape from the LED strip wires throughout the chassis until I can get slack on the wires and tape them down again.

Those are the plugs on the new LED strips?? If so you don't ORDER new ones, you tell the seller to give you refund or replacement! That should not happen unless the solders are very poor quality, which I've read does happen.

Yes these are from the new ones. I think the solders were very poor quality.

You think I can get them to get me a replacement ?? That would be great so I don't have to spend money on another set.

Absolutely! Send them that picture and tell them the connectors pulled off the strips. These are so cheap to manufacture that they more than likely will just send you a refund or replacement without even asking for you to skip them back. It costs more to ship then back than they are worth.

Do you think they were poorly soldered from the get go, or do you think maybe you put too much tension on them? I would expect the strips to flex before the solders would break. If you feel they were too cheaply soldered, and you obviously are going to need replacements anyway, maybe consider asking for a refund and purchasing from a different seller. It's still possible that you'd end up getting the same ones even from a different seller because these Chinese sellers have multiple eBay stores under different names and compete with their own listings over mere pennies. It may be worth a shot in order to possibly get better quality.. But then again, if you just get offered replacements and give the slack needed on the wires you'd probably be fine anyway.

I think both, I think the tension was too much for the weak solder. That wiring was pretty tight.

Yeah I'm just going to get replacements and get some slack on the wiring.

Get a refund and order from someone else. That's what I'd do. Make sure when you leave this seller feedback that you say you needed replacements and they wanted to charge you for it.

I don't know which strips are in your TV as I see a few different part numbers available. But check these out and if they're correct I'd suggest ordering from this seller. If they're not right see if you can find the right ones sold by them. They've been great about refunds and shipping me replacements for free when I've ordered the wrong ones. I've probably ordered from them a half dozen times or so for various different tv models.

Okay guys sorry for the wait...

The seller I bought the first set of strips from tried to send me replacements but they got lost during shipping.

I got a refund and bought another pair, but one of the plugins came disconnected from the LED strip during packaging I assume.

I really don't want to go through another waiting period of sending these back and getting new ones replaced and I don't want to spend money on anymore.

Couldn't I just solder it back on ? If so, what kind of soldering gun kit could I buy from Amazon to do it with ?

Ok, I have a solder gun but I need solder wire.

Is there a specific size of wire I need ?

Will I need flux ?

Yes of course flux. And small electronic solder wire. Small size as it's a tiny pad. This doesn't look like it's going to be easy.. since there is 5 pads and honestly I would of sent them back. If your are new to solder the chances of this pulling through is going to be very small.

This connector still needs to be soldered correctly; if it is turned 180* degrees, the backlight will not work.

Orientation shouldn't be a problem if you compare it to the original strip you took out. As for soldering it back on it looks entirely plastic so I don't think it CAN be. What is more likely is that it is glued on. I would plug the wire into the connector like it's supposed to be and then try to carefully push the connector onto the pins of the strip if you can line them up properly. If it slips back on flush, leave it in place and connect the probes of your LED tester to the WIRES coming out of the back of the plug. If it lights up the strip then you'll know it's on correctly and makes good contact. At that point you can super glue/hot glue the connector in place.

Edit: your picture doesn't really represent the situation clearly, so perhaps I'm not seeing it correctly. If those are in fact solder pads then soldering it would be quite tricky. Perhaps gluing it in place will make enough contact. You really should take this up with the seller tho. I've bought two different sets of edge lighting with these style connectors and neither one came damaged or pulled off. I'll bet it was the same seller under a different name. The Chinese sellers are good for that.
