Re: Sony kdl46s4100 half a picture
Well i thought so but look at the picture?i also removed the front trim and checked the tabs on the panel but cant find a bad one..also the only way to get the picture whole like you see in the pic is too manipulate the tcon plug not the ribbon...and the tcon is making noise in tandem. With the picture disturbances. ..

You could try cleaning the t-con connectors with electronic contact cleaner. This TV is also known for main board issues, but that might be a far-fetched diagnosis at this point. It's still something to keep in mind.Last edited by capkid; 04-19-2014, 05:29 PM.

I am thinking panel more likely, possibly you are flexing the frame when you fiddle with the T-con?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sony kdl46s4100 half a picture
now I'm not flexing the panel..i thought it was panel related..but if you wiggle it and the panel was out you whould get nothing?when you plug the cable in sometimes it stays and other time it shows nothing..so is it voltage being too low from the power supply causing the left side of tcon to act up ??or tcon failure??or main board issue? ?but when you move the plug and the picture comes back allthough looking like that..but working somewha. .bad connection or cable..but who knows . I CAN TAKE VOLTAGES IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED?

Re: Sony kdl46s4100 half a picture
T-con boards rarely discriminate between the LHS & RHS of a picture in that manner (that leads to a fading between the sides.) That can only occur due to some signal not reaching the panel, due possibly to a bad T-con, ribbon cable, tab bonding or bad driver IC on panel. Please do not PM me with questions! I am ruling out power board & main board, your choice if you want to chance a t-con, personally I don't think it'll fix it.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sony kdl46s4100 half a picture
Bummer, I have this exact model sitting here dead in the water, power led lights up when plugged in but when you go to turn it on.... Nothing.
My guess would be PS or MB for mine, the person I got it from said it was working great one day and the next it wouldn't turn on!
Are you parting this out or going to try and tab bond fix it?

Re: Sony kdl46s4100 half a picture
hey tomstr, how did you end up with the final fix?? Your last picture looks like its pretty much there!
I just picked this one up, looks to be green/blue pixelated, searched but couldn't find anything, yours seems much worse than mine so any pointers appreciated! Just got it in from the cold and found the service manual, hope to start on it tomorrow and dig in...:: On The Repair Block ::..
