I don't get it. The TCL TV is a 65” screen and I got a 55” TCL main board and has identical part numbers compared to my old one.

If there is a spi flash with a panel identifier on the buffer board, then it could be re-registered when turned on and change the parameters in the settings.

Well, I have no more options, whereas the number has changed from 55 to 65.

I don't use them, they always seem buggy compared to what I get with external stick. Was trying to explain to Sam, that it looks like on some of these tvs, you might need to go online the first time you set it up, but after that you can just use your tv antennae to pick up local channels, without being online. Can't deal with amazon products, they have way too many restrictions for a device that a body bought and paid for. But if you don't use their crap apps n such it should be ok.

Indeed, I'm use to using the externals, the ones built into the tv seem to be more prone to messing up and there always seems to be some deal that was broken by one side or the other company and this or that app no longer works. Then the sorry company that sold the tv kills ALL the apps off after 3 years or so, what a effin headache.

HTPC all the way... served me well over many years. I think my current mini HTPC is now 7 years old and still works fine as kind, And it does get updates too as it runs linux.
