Was trying to explain to Sam, that it looks like on some of these tvs, you might need to go online the first time you set it up, but after that you can just use your tv antennae to pick up local channels, without being online. Can't deal with amazon products, they have way too many restrictions for a device that a body bought and paid for. But if you don't use their crap apps n such it should be ok.

Indeed, I'm use to using the externals, the ones built into the tv seem to be more prone to messing up and there always seems to be some deal that was broken by one side or the other company and this or that app no longer works. Then the sorry company that sold the tv kills ALL the apps off after 3 years or so, what a effin headache.

Before I forget it: the 55" and 65" TCL uses the same main board and I haven't to do anything to make the 55" main board to the 65" screen.

I hardly use the smart chit on the TV.

I don't know which version the original board was. All I saw was update available and it went on from there. So I cannot pinpoint and say version x.xx is bad.
