Well lotus it's right here in this thread so who is right? If the fault is on the mainboard WHERE is it??:

test the psb with leds and no mb connected, force bl-on,.tcon-on
both psb and mb can be dried by an overvoltage.. surge at mains..

I tested with the led tester
    none burnt
    all seems to work
    each section 56.9 to 57.0v

why don't you write entire model numbers? It is useful for other one's searching..

Lol, meant to say have seen many shorted mlc caps without fuse being open/blown.

sorry I missed the part about dynamic dimming.
I guess Sony edge BL is different system than spread out led strips.
the 65X950G I was able to ground the BL_ERR to turn on the back lights to check if that is the real problem

thanks, got it, I will order the led first before taking it apart.
I will update you guys later when I am done

Think I would investigate those backlights, a guy here that works on a lot of sonys said he never had one with voltage at the bl-err pin that wasn't due to bad led/s.

i did explained at my early post why grounding BL_ERR to ground didn't work...
if you tried it one more you will end by toasting yours PSU

    Thanks for the tip

here is another similar setup on the same board

Red circle is the one I am thinking possible shorted cap
now measured 39 ohms on caps end or chip legs 5-6

    yellow circle
    Both caps measure 7k ohms
and same for the chip next legs 5-6

as for the backlights error, won’t remove the line BL_ERR to LD board and ground on the main board side would at least try to turn on the backlights (by pass the error)
    but I get no reaction

this set from years 2016 with edge BL, which LEDs had build in zener diode one or more shorted so you have BL_ERR.
front LED could be turned off from user setting before it got fault at LEDs. since it send power_on.. so dont play with MB go head to take screen apart.. shorting BL_ERR to ground will not working at this set as it had frame dynamic Dimming.

10 Ohm is a completely normal resistance, it can power the processor core, but there is always low resistance, if something shorted, the fuse would blow, what is the voltage on this inductor relative to ground?

This might not be the most precise approach but there's a longtime pro tech on youtube, that grabs one of those mlc caps off of his scrap boards that is the same physical size and throws it in there, he swears that he hasn't blown anything up yet, lol.

Hm, check those other little caps right in that area and also any other caps that size and compare.

  • sony 55X850D black screen no front white or red led light.

    Hi guys

    strange one
    I have a dead Sony 55X850D
when plug in, black screen, no front white or red LED, no back light no screen

    Voltages I get

    3.3v LD/power and main board
    reg 12V
    reg 19V
    3.3v on power on pin

    no Tcon on
    no tcon 12v
    no BL_on

    I do get BL_ERR 2.0v

I tried to bypass it by ground it but still get same symptom

I did also found a possible shorted cap on main board as it is showing 10 ohms when measure with meter
or is possible the chip next to it? Pin 5 and 6 are connected. where I measure another similar chip, the pin 5 and 6 are not connected

I just want to confirm with you guys before I take it out
also If you guys know what spec should I use as there is no label or markings on the cap

    thanks

PS4 PRO - black screen, white light
    by Gigabyte_PL
    Hello everyone,

I have problem with my Playstation 4 PRO. After a long break, I turned on the console and tried to play game. Game started, but after a minute it froze the console and crashed to the main menu. I tried running another game and the same problem.
Error returned: CE-34878-0 (I changed HDD)

I updated the software in the console. I unplugged the console, put it aside for a week and now I want to turn it on but there is no image. The console lights up white, there is communication via HDMI with the monitor - but only a black screen (but it detects the...

Sony XBR-75X950G seems dead with a black screen but backlight and sound is working and no blinking red lights
    by Audeze
I have a 2019 75" x950g, and while playing a movie, the screen suddenly went dark in a weird way, where it faded towards one corner into being fully black. Now the TV turns on, and the backlight comes on, but there is nothing displayed except black. Sound still comes through the TV speakers, and i have tried doing a hard reset using the volume - and power buttons while plugging the display back in, but it did not fix it. I can confirm that pressing buttons on my remote is still doing "something" because I'm hearing sound still, even though the screen is black.

    Does...

    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

My name is Chris, I am a 30 years old embedded software developer working in the automotive industry. I am really passionate about learning new skills and repairing/crafting stuff. I came around this forum last week with the goal of repairing my faulty gaming laptop, indeed, I was video editing on it when suddenly a black screen popped and never disappeared I bought some stuff to try to repair it and learn as many things as possible about computer repairs but nothing worked so far. When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...

TD Systems K50DLG12US half black and half white screen
    by Raulnn
good night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I first removed the flex from one half of the panel and then the other. Removing the left, vgh increases it to 25-26v. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?

By the way, now the entire screen is black. Maybe some flex was not connected correctly... I have exchanged the flex and there are no variations, I don't think they are the...
