I'm planning to try to freeze the chip when I get home this evening. If that doesn't work then I'll test the voltages as suggested by lotas because that seems like the easiest next step. One question for Diah to make sure that I understand the last post... Are you saying that I could (at least temporarily) cause the TV to remain on by connecting the Error Detection pin on the lower LVDS to the chassis through a 1K resistor? If so, would I need to also remove that pin from what it's currently attached to on the TCON board? (That may be a bit beyond my skill set, but I might give it a try as long as I'm sure that I understand the suggestion.)

The "Error Detection" output needs to be known exactly where it is, otherwise even more problems may arise.

about the SOS signal pin on LVDS socket..
usually LG assigned the line of SOS error at pin 6 at the lower LVDS when we count from downside ( remember when you did test by disconnect only this lower LVDS the TV no more 5 blink )
it could be not the the pin No 6 or 7 or 5... to know which one when the TV start normal this SOS pin will be low... and when the 5 blink start it will be high.. so easy to know which one are the error signal pins

after you be sure of this poins... follow it on the T-CON.... it will be go to R and C... so you can terminated from the R,, not from the socket to avoid damage the socket...... it is also on the Main boards side you can trace it as it will go to R first,,, so you can terminated from mainboards.... which one easy to you do it... but the line which come from MB need to go to chassis via 1KR

sorry i cant follow with you today as the champion league football will start soon..but of sure other member will answer you if you have questions.
        goof luck

Clean this pin (Error Detection test point) from varnish and use a multimeter to check which pin it goes to.

EazyBone Clearly my knowledge is somewhat limited here, but I think that the idea of Diah's "freeze" suggestion is that the eMMC chip has rewritable memory that may be "stuck,' with the error flag set. (That would explain why the pattern test isn't working even though I unplugged the TV while the screen was working.) So the thought is that freezing it may allow the memory to get unstuck so the flag would be cleared. If that were to happen then the TV would actually be fixed. Of course, it would only be truly fixed if the cause of the problem was just a random occurrence that put the eMMC into a bad state. The eMMC would ultimately need to be replaced if it's failing, and clearly nothing would be fixed if the eMMC's error was caused by a problem within the panel. My hope is that it's just related to the eMMC... that seems possible given that the TV is able to turn on with no visible signs of a panel problem after a hard reset (albeit only for a few seconds). Perhaps Diah can chime in and let me know if my assumptions are correct.

this is all just theories, could be or could be not. no one able to repair T-CON. including me, but we can attempt testing to be more close to the issue causer.
until now we do know only
1- there are SOS flag coming from T-CON / Panel side ( disconnecting the lower LVDS TV remain on )
2- necessary Voltage ,the PSU provide the set and they are fine at T-CON / Panel side
3- its not resolution issue ( when you left the set after hard reset on first page select region the error flag come again )
4- from yours photos panel displaying perfect picture with out distributing in image for few seconds
5- by terminated the panel power (EVDD) in case if you did it correct the error flag remain.
6- no success by testing T-CON Panel with stand alone test.

also the finger now only on the T-CON only which caused this error.

as you are with limited know how , replacing T-CON On Sony and on OLED Set not easy and going smooth as some one thinking just put in and screw it to chassis... there are much problem could appear , the marriage of New T-CON with Panel & with Main boards. ...... burring in image from the old set which the T-CON come from.

this why i do try... just try to let the set run longer than few seconds.. thought set at condition running for short time are very hard to solve and to know the reason rather one with out function.

so let stop talking theory and all the tests i do know i wrote choice what are suitable to you from freezing to lamp test to trick out the SOS Flag.

Great summary and advice Diah, your a fine troubleshooter, you don't ASSUME anything and you explain everything very well, that takes lots of patience, and you get EXTRA points for not taking crap from anyone, well done.

I did the freeze test last night, but there was no change. I guess the next test is the "lamp" test. What type of lamp are we talking about? A car headlight?

But it won’t help unless this freeze restores the eMMC life cycle or a software failure.

lotas I don't understand. I used the freeze spray before the hard rest, while initiating the reset, and after the TV turned on. It still shut down after 10-15 seconds. I tried this twice. So I assume that I've already shown that it didn't help. Am I missing something?

don't freeze any more the eMMC... i think its fine
just unplug the EVDD sockets and do blind hard reset... yours sign the front led indicator and the optic port

dont forget to put back both LVDS

EazyBone That's what I was thinking until I read Diah's comment about it being a non-trivial task with OLEDs... It sounds like there may be data that needs to be transferred (or something like that). I can certainly swap the boards, but I don't have the hardware to program an EEPROM or swap a surface mount chip. I wonder if this can be done manually with a lot of enthusiasm but limited tools?

Okay, So I connected everything except the 2 EVDD sockets on the TCON and did a hard reset. After doing that I pressed the power button. The power supply didn't click, but about 5 seconds later the optic light turned on briefly and went out again. A few seconds after that the optic light came back and stayed on. I left it in this state long enough to convince myself that it was stable. Then I pressed the power button again. This time I heard the power supply click on and off, the optic light turned off, and the power LED began flashing 4 times.

I then connected the EVDD sockets and found no change. (The TV turns on after a hard reset for 10-15 seconds and then turn off again.)

I did leave it on for a couple of minutes to make sure that the light remained on, although it wasn’t as long as 5 minutes. I pressed the power button after a couple of minutes because even though the optic light was on, I hadn’t heard the relay click on the power supply. This suggested to me that the TV was probably in standby mode. (I still believe this to be true.)

I’ll do the same test again tonight, but try harder to get the TV in a mode where the relay is engaged. If successful (and the optic light stays on) then I’ll attach the EVDD as you suggested.

Hello all just wondering if anyone knows how to do a hard reset on this model, XVR58C-21D-8CH-V1.1 ?
There are videos on youtube for every other model but this one, I do not have the switch on the board or reset jumpers.

I do have 2 little pads right next to the firmware chip, I have shorted these and powered the system on and waited a wile
with no luck. I will add picture of these 2 pads.
I do have the bin file from the firmware if its any good to anyone maybe able to edit out the pass I am not sure.

                                            Hi friends.
I have a Plaud Note that's asking me to unlink the SSO account.
Is there a solution to unlink this device?

This is what I tried, but not in any order.
