    Vizio VO47L FHDTV10A Orange>White Logo, No pic

    Hi. Complete rookie here.

Story goes, the picture on the VO47L dies and a puff of smoke appears. I opened it up and cap C241 on the power supply spewed acid all over the heat sink. So I think, "this is easy" and grab the correct cap, 105', 470uf35v and replace it, no problemo, working great!; except, 1/2 day later, the picture goes black again. Open it back up and the same cap is bulging. Then I notice (yes I'm a noob) that the caps on the inverters (master/slave) are leaking. Yikes. So this time I order Panasonic caps for the inverters i.e. 680uf35v105' and a Nichicon 470uf35v105' for the PSU and solder them in. So, here we are today:

On power up, the tv clicks, orange Vizio logo turns white, the PSU connectors, CN2, CN3, CN4, CN5 have the correct voltages e.g. 24v, 12v, 5v, exactly as they are labeled on the board but NO PICTURE.

I checked my solder job on the inverters and it looks okay for a novice (my 1st time). Yes, polarity is correct.

Next step (if you think this is a good one) is to check the fuses on the inverters but embarrassingly, I don't know what they look like and double embarrassingly, I don't know the procedure for checking them (continuity test, right?)

Attaching pics now. As always, HELP!

    p.s. TV will power up/down

    Looks like an inductor,
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1388877104
has experienced significant heating, perhaps there is a fault around there? Though if 24V is steady as it powers on, that is probably not the case. Just something to check.

Do you have voltages on A and B pins on inverter connector?

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I'm waiting on parts for same power board thought these picks may help.

          Yes, Sir. A=2.9v, B=3.1v

Yeppers, I took a shortcut and only replaced C241 but I'm getting a rocksteady 24v at CN2, etc.

Update: I found the KOAC 10a fuse on both inverters and they test okay for continuity.

              Now, I'm stuck.

Check in a dark room, do you very briefly get a flash of light from the panel?

Nope, and it's really dark in here too.

All the caps checked 20% low or more thats why I'm changing all, and on bottom of board looks like a solder joint problem on the four wire jumpers, and on one end two are soldered together . Dont know if that is a factory mess up or supposed to be like that. I have no power on pin B inverter on off control. All other power is good.

Oops, my mistake, I was measuring the main board.

On the inverter connector, A=2.3v, B=3.2v

                      Is A too low?

Update: The fuse on the master inverter is blown -- 24v on one side, and 0 on the other.

                            Geez...

"On the inverter connector, A=2.3v, B=3.2v"
                              <1V = OFF
                              >2V = ON
They are OK. One of them is the dimming signal which can be from 1~5V.

Thanks Bud Martin, splitcrete, tom66 and others. I'm not gonna declare victory yet, but this Vizio VO47L has been up and running for the last hour, no problemo. Pics below.

If anyone can help I have this same model TV and the pic is gone but I still have sound. I opened the back and checked the PS caps and they all seem ok. I checked the inverters and both have caps bulging. I could recap them easy enough but what are the chances that this is the only thing keeping the pic from coming back. I have a voltmeter and checked both inverter fuses for continuity. Not really sure where Inshould be placing probes to check for voltage. Any advice is appreciated.

@stinger: Black probe of the meter on the metal chassis, then use the red probe to see if you do have 24Vdc on both ends of the fuse, TV must be on and you may have to apply video signal otherwise it will go into standby mode.

I have a Vizio VO47L FHDTV10A... that stopped working after a power outage...it gets power and the logo goes from amber to white and after a couple of seconds another click (relay?) is hard accompanied by a faint flash in the panel. The picture is great and have loved the tv for 6 years, but hate to have to put a bunch of money into it...i do have a soldering iron, know how to desolder, and have some basic electronics experience (I built a health-kit ham radio years ago)...any ideas? Something I can tackle myself?
