Ok so a little update and thanks to all you guys for all your help but I did indeed fix this one. I replaced the psu and it fired right up. I did bother replacing those 3 main filter caps on the working one even though they look fine, Figured it couldn't hurt. Also found the picture of the original capacitor explosion on the broken psu so you can enjoy that. Thanks for all the help guys on this tv.
Thanks....

Ha, so I just shined a flashlight on it and could faintly see the no signal on the screen. Then I clicked input and could see even more with the flashlight. So I feel like a dummy for not doing this test in the first place but would this mean bad leds? Also changed to dc and they're fluctuating but about 350v dc for those main caps. I really thought the hot side of the power supply was always ac ooops. Thanks again man. How should I continue? Should I tear it apart and look for bad leds? I'm familiar with changing out leds in these tv's. I also have a led tester as well.Thanks....Last edited by Super360; 07-26-2024, 04:48 PM.

Vizio E701i-A3 Vizio logo flashing then turns off
Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

Well just a little update I put the replacement motherboard I bought offf e-bay in and it's working great now. It no longer shuts off every 3 mins like it did when I replaced the eeprom memory chip. So I would call this fixed. Now all I have to do is replace the psu as it makes a horrible buzzing sound that makes watching tv unbearable. And the one other issue is some of the led diffusers fell off so they will have to be re-glued but no big deal. Main problem fixed. thanks everyone.

Well I spoke a little to soon as it did power on and somewhat function but it kept turning off and freezing. It will display a image at least but like I said after 3 mins restart itself for no apparent reason. So it looks like a motherboard replacement is the only thing that will fix this tv at this point....

Well bholu was absolutely correct. I literally thought this wouldn't work but I bought a Winbond W25Q40CLSIP erased eeprom with no programming what so ever. I just got it today and soldered it in and really had low hopes of it fixing my issue. I soldered it in anyways thinking I have nothing to lose. Well when I turned the tv on after installing new eeprom it did the same thing smart logo then blank... turned it off and turned it back on and wouldn't you know it that it came alive right before my very eyes. What a great surprise. Thanks to all you guys for your help.

yea, I have a replacement 25q40 coming in the mail. The one guy said that it doesn't even need to be programmed which I find hard to believe. But yes I would much appreciate the firmware for that chip and I'm going to pick up this [URL="https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Socket-Adpter-Programmer-CH341A/dp/B07R5LPTYM/ref=sr_1_3?crid=U0ZZAVAPIOG5&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.DayBBtmwEM4eNtpgqz5a7ZK3EmniNdaYeJMrtGjqwjbomN5UhT4k4PRcpdSh3s9mE_oMXM9Q1VqfYwOOV_I8CQaEdwk0tXZHsIWyhyqiLYx9UttjszjoekxB4ZSVp4D6POFr0ekcY7yGimLhlsXyl-E4bDuKtobCybNm9eAJH9YyppCDaIEWCN_PDys2-d3MiiPCzL2XlL7XDEgdtV0LpN_zkJ3DH7Jy4Zqz...
