Look how many people, even on this forum, buy boards, motherboards, power supplies, t-con boards, and when installed on their TV, the fault remains the same...
I'm not saying that everyone is a scammer, but there are also cases where you're lucky.
It's just that there is no guarantee on used boards, today it works and tomorrow it works, and after three days you turn on the TV, but it doesn't turn on, since this board has already served its purpose.

There's quite frankly a whole lot of people here and everywhere, that jump to conclusions and are buying boards to replace boards that are not even bad, they'll buy one board when it's really another board that's bad, then they think they have two bad boards when both may be just fine or it's no board at all but the lousy panel or a backlight connection or some weird short in a wire. Then they think they bought a bad board but it's something else wrong, that's where testing comes in. It's really best these days to buy boards in sets, sj and a lot of others didn't start selling sets for no reason. It saves a lot of trouble with compatibility, specially when a lot of the buyers are just novices trying to fix their tv and don't have time or the inclination to dive deep into electronic repair.

Lots of people knock ebay but like I said the VAST majority of people are honest. And if you have a doubt about a seller that's what feedback is for, and their policy does favor the buyer but it almost has to, hence sellers should always pay for insurance, they are not a HUGE company for no reason, their policy works and I never sweat buying from ebay. They did make a big mistake by excluding sellers from paypal but that's not relevent for buyers.

I understand everything, but there are people who don't even know what they are selling and whether it works or not; they found a TV on the street, dismantled it for parts and put it up for sale...

A few do, but they are the only ones who stand to lose money from shipping costs because they unknowingly or knowingly sold junk, hence the policy and why I don't worry about buying from ebay. It is a pain if you very rarely run into that situation because it does take a little time to get another replacement but the crooks are not getting away with anything and they soon realize it and give up if they have any sense at all.

I ordered a board. Should be here sometime next week. When it comes, considering the tv is fixed, should I update it if it's outdated? Or should I not take that gamble?

If it works fine without an update, there's probably no great need to update.

It'd probably be updated anyway. Vizio is bad at keeping their tvs updated so the last update was probably years ago.

I put in the new board last night and it's working. I had it on for about an hour and a half with no issues.

Good to hear the replacement board fixed the issue and another tv saved

So I turned it on tonight and it was doing something strange. See the attached video. The bar was moving down just like a no signal box would. I did a factory reset and it didn't do it again. What could this be?

I think something is wrong with the file, didn't see anything.

It works when I open it 🤔

Here's a picture of it... But do note, the whole bar DOES move downward in slight increments like a screensaver.

Here's some more pics of it. The whole bar ticks downward until it's gone completely and then the picture is perfect afterwards. I noticed that it happens now whenever it's been unplugged. I used it for about a week without ever seeing this and I didn't unplug it during that time.

Edit: I'm kind of wondering if it could be a tcon issue

Odd indeed. Perhaps it's the ribbon from the main to the tcon as I did obviously mess with that one. The connectors on these main boards are finicky I've noticed. There's little cut outs in the sides of each end where they sit in the connectors and you close the clip, rather than sliding it in and the clip putting pressure on it. I had to open it last night because the IR sensor wasn't working. Turned out it's ribbon came undone at the sensor side. I don't know why I didn't think to check the others while it was open.

The tv is currently in my garage which has been about 32F the last few days. I work in there and it's not heated when I'm not in there. Would that have anything to do with it?
