Does freezing the chip obtain a different result than heating it? Apparently Nintendo Switch consoles had eMMC issues which reflowing fixed. How, if at all, does that relate to the issue in having with this tv?

i wrote before yous issue not being BGA.... heating the eMMC/ NAND will kill the glitching bad sector...freeze will help if there bad sector not glitching out

So heating it would not work but freezing might?

Edit: ok I'm going to try freezing it but I'm going to use electronics duster as it allegedly does the same thing when you spray it upside down. It's super cheap and I just seen it at Dollar Tree recently.

Do I need to have the tv powered on while spraying the chip? It do I freeze it then quickly plug it in?

I tried freezing it and the only difference was the box at the bottom started out faded and slowly came into view.

I'm not sure how to do that. I can plug my thumb drive in and turn the tv on but as far as I know you are supposed to get a message asking if you want to update.

No amount of freezing and heating will help here, a good programmer for emmc will help here and have a working dump (this is despite the fact that emmc is still alive) or try logging in via uart and using the terminal to get into recovery and do a full reset (and again same if emmc is alive) or replacing the motherboard with a working one.

I'm guessing that means you're mad at me..I gave you the best picture I had on my phone because I'm not next to my bench.

lotas ya I'm trying the suggestions I get because apparently everyone has had different outcomes in this situation. There's a few different boards for this model and I found one that physically matches but one digit was different in the model number.

this set with chrom cast OS no recovery or UART / order to reset... the MT CPU are the heart... eMMC saved the firmware on.. and Rams. he did heat the MT SPU and i wrote this is not BGA issue... freeze will pass any bad sector then he will have access on the syystem via the menu... but now it look he did heat the eMMC too... so its no more luve. the bad sectores will die and be out from the chips... and this we did said many time... if yours issue on firmware never heat it.. just freeze it

OP: i am not mad on you or any... but whom seek professional quid and help need from him / her side also professional answer upon any request.

I appreciate all you have helped me with. To clarify, I have NOT heated the eMMC. I only heated the CPU previously.

                              1. Heat CPU - no change
                              2. Froze eMMC - little/no change

That is all I have done to this board

When I got the tv it functioned like in those photos but would stay frozen on the wallpaper. I plugged in the update flash drive and left it for a couple hours. When I came back it was on the V logo and has not progressed passed it since. THEN I tried heating the CPU, didn't help. THEN, I tried freezing the eMMC as you suggested. And now I'm here.

It never said it was updating or even acknowledged the drive being plugged in but I left it anyway. I don't know if it actually tried to update and that caused it to stop booting past the V logo, or if being on and frozen for so long made it automatically reboot and brick.

Edit: I looked back and and see in post #4 I said I was going to heat the NAND. I DID NOT do this tho, I only heated the BGA.

Ok, that is a good picture there, now can you take off the black heatsink and post another picture? no more heating or cooling, which you already tried.

dont play with iz any more.... just try use Linux machine and the last firmware you have... use Binwalk to have extract the firmware.... of sure you will find many xml / script that you can use it in command or via usb to trick the MT CPU open the way to write firmware again to eMMC, one things more the socket which not installed CN403 as i can see RX & TX connected to R and the middle GND... so test them with uart / USB low level 3V adapter and terminal to see if there any out put log come out

Test the little brown mlc caps around the mediatec chip, see if any are shorted, do the same for the eMMC, thats with tv unplugged. Also you can test those caps for voltage with tv turned on, see if you are getting like 3.3 and 1.8 vdc or so on them. Maybe don't run it too long with the heatsink off if the chip starts to get too hot.
