So what DC voltage do you get on that large cap? That will be the first place I check after checking to see if it has blown main fuse first.

Both fuses on psu are good

              Which is the main cap?
Is it one of the large caos on its side?

The two big one laying side way, measure right at the two legs.
If you do get 160~170vdc, then check and see if you do have 5V STBY at the 5V pin of the connector.

Ok so the tv powers on and panel comes on
I did get 167v at both caps

Im guessing either the spilled over solder from the previous repairs was causing it not to power on or there was an improper connection somewhere

So now on to the issues

                  1. When I do the auto search it goes into search mode but it does not find any channels
I tried both "tv cable" and "hd cable" connection and auto searched both and I dont even get one channel

                  2. When I connect my sons ps3 via hdmi cable it does not recognize it. At first it would show a bunch of distorted colors then it the screen blacks out and goes back to the distorted colors then finally just went to a blue screen and the top right corner said "not supported "
I did hook up my sons xbox 360 slim via hdmi and rca cables and it worked just fine

So what should I check to fix these issues?

"not supported " That means the resolution setting of PS3 is too high for this TV to display (same kind of thing with PC monitor if the video card resolution is set too high).
I am not if this TV has QAM tuner to pick up the Unencoded HD signal or not, the analog signals are take away by cable companies months ago.

This tv has 2 cable connections
I tried both auto searches and got nothing

So does that mean I can only use this tv just to watch movies with a dvd/ bluray player only?

Or do I need a converter box?

It does not have QAM Tuner, it only has NTSC, and ATSC (Over the air Digital). You need the cable converter box.

I sold a 720p Samsung with the same PS3 resolution issue. I don't have a PS3 myself, but the buyer had issues getting his PS3 to work: http://community.us.playstation.com/.../td-p/18790954

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Hi, I'm working on a MSI laptop, Motherboard number MS-16W11, GF-65 Thin 10SDR-459US. Went to another shop because the screen was flickering, but it was working well on an external monitor. The LCD was ordered and the laptop was returned to the customer and it no longer worked. It was then sent to another tech (by the shop who ordered the LCD) and the EC (ENE KB9028Q) was replaced with a donor from another MSI board with different board number and no programming was done. It looks like work was done on PU6 (TPS51225) as well as one of the GPU mosfets was burnt (I removed all three GPU mosfets)....

Asus FX505DD REV 2.0 no power after someone replaced the cmos battery with a screwdriver.

I have a dead FX505D, motherboard FX505DD REV 2.0 , the owner replaced the cmos using a screwdriver and he touched something on the board, since then the laptop its not starting, i have managed to see that U8800 (BQ24780SRUYR) charging IC is getting hot under a thermal camera , i have desoldered it but the laptop still doesn't power on, i also have no voltage at power connector on the board. I also replaced the U8800 but still no power. What should i check next?

HP Probook 640 G5 - replaced blown components, getting power led, fan full, 5-flashes on CAPS Lock and NUM lock, black screen

Hey guys, bit stumped with this laptop after replacing 2 blown components i.e., MP86493, MP2979A.

To begin with, this laptop was dead-dead.

                                  Now with replaced (visibly) blown components, i do get some progress; after connecting battery or main cable;
                                  • am getting white power led
                                  • 5-long-flashes on CAPS Lock and NUM lock
                                  • then, fan full speed
                                  • CPU heats up some (smaller die PCH, does not)
                                  • always constant black screen no matter what's tried
                                  • no USB recognition
                                  • no HDMI output
this is as far as I can get with it and not sure where to inspect next ?

                                  I tried...
