PU8805 seemed essential so I ordered the replacement. It is a relatively expensive part. I ordered from eBay for $20USD and after installing it I checked the resistance on the +5VSUS rail and it dropped to 6 ohms. Thankfully I found a cheaper source on Aliexpress and ordered a few as backup. After installing another, the laptop is booting to bios.

History of the repair: Customer tried to charge with a make shift battery/ usbc cable and the laptop stopped working. I checked caps around the USB C port and found the +5VSUS line shorted, 0 ohms. U1203 heated up with voltage injection, after I replaced it, the resistance went to 1.6 ohms. Voltage injection again showed PU8805 as the heat source, upon removal the resistance of +5VSUS went to 115 ohms.
According to the schematic for the QM variation, there should be a total of 5 of these load switches on the board, I confirmed 4, the other (U7101) could be under the heat sink, which, I did...

Is it safe to power up ASUS ROG G14 without TPS25810?
Hi, I'm working on an ASUS ROG G14, GA410QEC board. U1203 (TPS25810 but the schematic has it as SN1507044RVCR1) has shorted the +5VSUS rail. Is it safe to power up to test and subsequently use the laptop until I receive the replacement part?Last edited by MicroSMD Lab; 04-01-2024, 04:57 PM.

I went ahead and replaced PU300 (TPS51225C) with a TPS51285B (from an XPS 9560) and it's working now. Thanks for all your help mcplslg123

This seems to be a 5V line coming directly from the EC, PR341 is just a jumper. I removed PU300 and the diode mode reading on pin 20 is 0.547. Should I replace PU300 next?

Finally got the tantalum caps, replaced them and no difference.

ASUS FX53VE shutting off after 7 sec.
The customer said it wasn't charging the battery and when the battery died it would not power on with the charger. With the charger it comes on, for about 7 seconds, fan spins and the current draw reaches to about 1.9A, the display backlight flashes then it cuts off. Same thing with the display disconnected. 3.3V and 5V and 1.0VSUS are always present. When it attempts to power on, I get voltages (1.2V on RAM, 1.07V on CPUVCORE, 0.8V on GPU, on all of the big coils except L8003 and L8004, both are +VCCGT. The resistance to ground on these two coils is 2.8 ohms.

Thanks for the good advice as usual mon2 and piernov . The driver is TPS53603ADRGR which seems to be available from China only. Can you advise of any suitable replacements?mon2Thanks for the good advice as usual mon2 and piernov . The driver...

ASUS ROG Zephyrus GPU Mosfet repeat failure
The board number is GU502DU. I repaired this a couple weeks ago and it came back with the same issue, same mosfet failed (PQH9201). I'm hoping that the GPU was spared this time.
I used the same replacement part (purchased from Mouser) and I'm certain the soldering was done properly since it took just as much effort to remove as before. What could cause this same mosfet to fail? I'm thinking if it was unsuitable then the others would fail too. I looked for similar failures on YTube and the mosfet was replaced with AOE6930 in one instance and AOE6932 in the other but it's possible that the...

5V present on VREG5. I have only been able to find 330uf 2V tantalum caps on my donor boards so I am not able to replace them yet

Resistance to gnd on:
VREG3 - 9.6k ohm
VREG5 - 22k ohm
EN1 - OL even on the 20M ohm scale
PL300 - 43k ohm
PL301 - 14k ohm

DELL XPS 9530 LA-9941P no power
As the topic says, no power, no lights also. 19V present at DCIN and after the first two mosfets. 13.5V on PL203, 0V on all other large coils. I get 3.29V on the power button and EC-ON. No voltage on Pin 8 of the SPI rom. No physical damage observed. I measured some voltages around PU300
Pin 12, VIN = 13.5V
Pin 20, EN1 (5V) = 0.11V
Pin 6, EN2 (3V) = 3.18V
Pin 7, PGOOD = 0V
Pin 8, SW2 = 0V
Pin 18, SW1 = 0V
Pin 3, VREG3 = 3.29V
Pin 15, DRVL1 = 0V
As always,...

Re: Garmin dog training collar.ID help with SMD, Please?
Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I have replaced GPS antennas on some of these, mostly TT15. I also repaired some of the LNAs and a few boards with liquid damage. Working without schematics is a real pain.
UserAlexandr seems to be very familiar with these units, I hope you will share more of your experiences with us.
Almost all of them I worked on had the same coil cracked but it does not affect the functions, I guess that's why the EMF shield has a piece of neoprene on it.
The 1ohm resistor...

Re: MacBook Air A1932 2019 display remains black after reopening the lid
Finally got my donor board, replaced U4850 and everything works. I did a diode mode check on J6100 while I was waiting for the donor and pin 27 (SMC_LID_RIGHT) gave a reading of 0.167. It should be closer to 0.643, thanks to logiwiki. When I replaced U4850 the diode mode reading went up to 0.593.
Thanks Mon2 for all your guidance!

Re: MacBook Air A1932 2019 display remains black after reopening the lid
Just checked the microphone is not working also... maybe related to U4850? The first time I checked the backlight enable I got the voltage after reopening the lid but all other times after the enable has been 0V. I also noticed that after reopening the lid, the caps lock takes about 3 or 4 presses to respond, at first I thought it was just a sticky key but when it does light up, that's when I see an image with no backlight, this image goes away after a couple seconds though and seems to return only when I press...Last edited by MicroSMD Lab; 06-12-2023, 09:10 AM.

Re: MacBook Air A1932 2019 display remains black after reopening the lid
I ran a wire and backlight enable is 3.28V. I saw a thread with a similar issue on the rossmann forum but in that case the facecam did not work (can't seem to find it now) so I turned on facetime and got no camera detected.
