Clean ME/ repair request please.
Model: Dell XPS 9300 (P117G)
Motherboard: FDQ30 LA-H811P REV :1.0 (A00)
ST: FVR9353
Current BIOS version: 1.26.0
Issue: Dell logo only, reboots on battery, CPU gets hot and shuts off after about 35 seconds when charger plugged in, fans don't spin. If power button is pressed when charger is plugged in, fans spin, Dell logo apprears and powers off after about 6 seconds. Tried downloaded BIOS dump and got 3,6 blink pattern (System bios flash incomplete). Customer said they got 2,8 blink pattern (LCD power rail failure)...

I got a 15" Legion Y540 and used that screen to test the motherboard and it works. It could still be the display cable because the location of the display connector on the motherboard has made it susceptible to corrosion and may have caused the display to go bad, one leg of the +LED_VDD line was eaten away. I will most likely add some sort of gasket (similar to those that dust proof the iPhone FPC connectors) as an improvement, I'm also open to suggestions.

Thanks you for taking the time to help me out.
I'm not getting backlight, there seems to be a separate logo light voltage.
+LCD_VDD = 20V
+LED_VDD = 3.3V
BFOFF# = 0V
MUX_INVT_PWM = 0V
EDP_HPD = 0V
I am not seeing any image when I shine a light
I also checked BL_PWM and BL_EN on the panel and both are 0V

Lenovo Legion 5 Y540-17IRH, blank internal display
Hi group, this laptop came in powering up but no display on either internal or HDMI. I cleaned ME of the bios (not sure if I did it properly, I followed SMDFlea's video guide but there was no file named "ME Region.bin but one named "ME Sub Partition.bin" so I used that name instead) and I get output on HDMI now.
The model name is 81Q4, board number NM-C531 Rev 2
Initially I got no +LCD_VDD voltage at the eDP connector but after testing U9 and U4406 I got 3.3V, no soldering or replacing components.
Now I get what I think is backlight (the logo lights up behind the...

I think this is the origin of PM_SLP_S4# and the 2 other places it shows up in the schematic, is R367 is a pull-down resistor? It measures 100K in circuit.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion mcplslg123. I always read that caps lock test tells if the CPU is OK. The EC is an ENE KB9028Q, I'm not having any luck with the RT809F as I keep getting successful programming but failed verification, even reading verification fails. I located via points under the EC chip to connect the programmer and no luck. Not sure if it's a bad programmer, I even soldered the 47K resistor on the supplied KB9012 board (no caps) and soldered the chip to that board and the chip was not recognized.
At this point I'm going on the assumption that the programmed chips...

MSI MS-16W1 no power, EC replaced by other.
Hi, I'm working on a MSI laptop, Motherboard number MS-16W11, GF-65 Thin 10SDR-459US. Went to another shop because the screen was flickering, but it was working well on an external monitor. The LCD was ordered and the laptop was returned to the customer and it no longer worked. It was then sent to another tech (by the shop who ordered the LCD) and the EC (ENE KB9028Q) was replaced with a donor from another MSI board with different board number and no programming was done. It looks like work was done on PU6 (TPS51225) as well as one of the GPU mosfets was burnt (I removed all three GPU mosfets)....

These are the voltages:
PLB2 - 0.216V (no batt)______PL1801 - 1.9V_______ PLW1 - 1.2V
PLM1 - 1.2V________________PLV4 - 0.8V_________PLH2 - 1.8V
PL501 - 5V (AlwaysON)______PLV3 - 0.8V_________PLH3 - 1.8V

PL1102 - 1.8V______________PLH14 - 0.8V________PLG101 - 1.8V
I noticed that I didn't solder PLV2 after raising it to locate the shorted DrMos. After switching on multiple times to take the voltage readings,...Last edited by MicroSMD Lab; 02-20-2025, 04:06 PM.

19V rail is good. If I press the power button another time, keyboard backlight comes on, fan spins once then it powers down again. Appreciate the quick response, thanksLast edited by MicroSMD Lab; 02-18-2025, 06:10 AM.
