Vizio XVT473SV Back Light On, Sound On, No display

Was watching my Vizio XVT473SV when the screen began to flicker and make a high pitched chirping noise. It looked a lot like interference with a signal (from the old analog days) and the brightness of the screen fluctuated quickly. This happened for about 3-5 seconds over the course of 30 minutes in which I finally turned the TV off.

When I turn the TV back on, the VIZIO logo turns on, the screen goes through its normal boot cycle, and then it darkens slightly. I can hear the sound of the input and can tell the remote is working (can hear channels change and can power on and off the TV).

With my inspection I found no signs of blown caps or any visible issues on the board.

I am hoping it is simply a regulator / board versus the whole LCD panel. Help!

Most of the components are LG or amTRAN

    1. Inverter board: 0500-0712-0020
    2. Power board: 0500-0512-0810
    3. Main board: 0171-2272-3237
    4. Tcon board: 0171-2372-0024

I am getting voltage out of the T con board into the LCD panel. Does this mean it isn't the tcon board?

Fired up the TV today to check it out and I got it to work...for about 5 minutes. The back light is still working (that means the inverter is good, right?).

When I take the power cable feeding into the t con board out, the screen does get lighter
Trying to figure out what board I need to replace. I feel like it is related to the Tcon board (or the main board output into it) but I want to be sure before purchasing it.

When it is not working, do you get all the correct output voltages out of the power supply?

Dose the squealing sound come from one of the two round inductors with 220 marking on them (they are on the T-CON board)? If it is, then remove the flat white cable between the T-CON and the panel to see if the squealing goes away, if it does, the hook the cable back up one at a time to see if you will see half of the screen working.

I did not hear the squealing sound since the first time it died, it was almost like a click / squeal as the screen flickered.

I tried powering it on with just one of the top cables / flipped it and the same thing occurs. Screen is bright (no vizio boot logo) and then it gets slightly darker.

I believe I get the correct voltage from the power supply. I am able to read 12 and 5 volts in multiple spots on the boards.

So I replaced the T-Con board and the TV worked for about 5 minutes (as it did before replacing the t-con board. I am back in the same place. Could it be anything else but the main board at this point?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did you ever figure this out? I have the same tv with the same issue. Thanks!

I replaced the Main Board and it works like a charm.

I replaced the T-panel at first but that did not work.

I have an interesting on. I had a vertical line issue. I just recieved a new TCon board, hooked it up and when i turned it on the backlights never kicked on. I unplugged the power from the tcon board and tried again and the backlights come on but nothing else, as expected. Here is the part that is confusing me, I then plugged the tcon back in, but unplugged the ribbon from the inverter to the tcon board. Fired up the tv and everything seems to work perfect. Should it be working fine without the small cable from inverter to tcon board hooked up? Will it hurt anything by running it this way?
