Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
I have been suspecting IC900, but was unsure on how to test it. The diagram you sent me was VERY helpful!

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
I know C903 is good, because I replaced it already. IC900 P/N is 2A08N19 5531 ....very hard to read.

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Just to make sure I am doing it correctly, do I ground the black probe and put my Pos probe on leg 2 of T901?

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Both fusible resistors are good. It looks like my voltage is stopping at the transformers...

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
R919 says 4.7 Ohms on the resistor and it measured 4.8 Ohms
ZD903 gave no reading one way and 6 Mega Ohms the other way
D904 gave no reading one way and 6 Mega Ohms the other way
Sorry about the pics. Doing my best.

Hey Tom! Was wondering if you might have a second to look at a Vizio thread I have up. Maybe let me know what you think. Bud is working on it with me too. Just wanted additional input. thanks!

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
So all three of these Mosfets on the secondary are shorted from Gate to Source... I never tested these, because I thought the problem was in the Primary......

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
There is no short from Source to Drain. Seems to work correctly.... Still lost

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Update.! Looked around a bit more and found this. C909 blew out its bottom. Also the Mosfet right next to it Q905 was very black on the lower corner. There was big black burn mark on the heatsink. I replaced C909 and retested with same problem. I am thinking Q905 may have failed, but not quite sure how to test it....Last edited by XmouseX; 07-02-2013, 10:37 AM.

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Ok I get voltage at the large cap no matter what I do. Still no voltage on the secondary.

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Ok so this is weird. I replaced those Caps with good ones from another vizio board. NOW I have 157 Vdc on the large cap! Same problem though

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
Ok so I decided to check out those little blue caps around the board and I found 2 that tested bad. They all tested 1.325nF except for the 2 circled. They seemed like they would start to charge, then fluctuate and drop a bunch....

Re: Vizio V042L Completely dead!
This TV has never been worked on. It just turned off by itself and stopped working. No power at all.
