Yes Tom, but he did mention that he keeps tv running by shorting c7558, indicating a fault condition. The most difficult of the 3 sets I repaired starts off white, now. Shorting c7558 was a good tip, didn't use it because when backlights went off, knew I still had a fault. Still own two of those tv's, one in a spare room, one we use as a loan. My main point was similar fault, think backlight problem in panel. Ron.

Thanks for the help. Do you mean all 3 were faulty LCD panel and were fixed just by cleaning contacts on the tubes. I don't think mine has one faulty tube because the brightness is very uniform. If I have to replace the lot, the tubes alone would cost £22 * 10 = £220!

Cheers for the useful info. It is not flickering and looks good when warmed up but it is a repair for a customer so I can't send it back with C7558 shorted out to disable the fault detection, it may set fire to his house!

Try changing the CCFL's around, see if you notice any changes.

Re: Sharp LC32D44E-BK Stuck in standby mode

I will explain as simply as I can. Had 3 sharp tv's to repair. Two I owned, one was a repair for somebody else. All 3 going to standby. The tv I bought, screen damaged, but backlights came on perfectly. So fitted backlight assembly, that was ok, to tv had for repair. Worked perfectly, job done. I gathered, without doubt, important info, knew where fault was. Also knew, had 3 faulty backlight assemblies on my hands. I needed to repair 2 of them. I did so, but no dim bars on either assembly. Had 10 spare lamps. Started next set. Tried changing lamps, but no real cure. So went for connections, and resoldered the 2 small boards in backlight assembly. After a lot of elbow grease did effect a permanent cure. At one point, thought of soldering lamp connections but thought better of it. Having gone over this work, reckon you might get away with just improving connections. Have been a professional engineer for over 4 decades. Am not a beginner, and I have told you how I proceeded. I would like to be more precise, but what I can say is all 3 sets are working perfectly. I will help more if you need it. Ron77

                Jahson.

As long as lcd panel not taken apart you will have spare CCFL's. If screen ok, could go for more than a couple of pounds. Communicate with seller. You know what you want, as long as you get it, at right price, then ok. That service mode is on screen tells you a lot. The set I bought had accidental screen damage, and otherwise in good condition. I still have 10 ccfl's, if you get stuck, I can help you out with a couple. Ron 77.

Re: Sharp LC32D44E-BK Stuck in standby mode

Ron77 my tv is fixed, i replaced 1 ccfl, problem solved.
Im just saying if this was on sell last week, sure it would of been a cheaper option than £34.04 i paid for the 1 ccfl.

But i thinking ive got that tv here, so i can test all i need to test. Think it will go for a few pounds.

If i did get it then i know i can ask you for a few bits if needed then?

Understand, didn't read thread thoroughly. Only looked at last page to start with. Saw dan's post and knew had similar problem. I will help if you need it. So you actually paid that much for a ccfl. Would have sent you a couple for nothing. Ron.

You don't need to replace that cap, but if you really insist, any rating above 16V ought to work.

It is a possible fix but doesn't work for all sets. After doing it you need to do a service lamp reset.

Looks like the lamp wasn't making good contact with the connector, does the lamp appear undamaged? Also possible that the frame touched the board and caused an arc.

Hi. I have the following problem with my TV. After connecting to mains, the standby led (red) turns on, but TV is not responding to remote control or buttons on TV. After some measurements, I found out that +5 V standby voltage is present, but I dont have ON/OFF signal coming in to turn PSU on. It stays at zero volts. After looking at the schematic of the mainboard, I should get ON/OFF signal coming in at the R1402 resistor, but it stays around +3,5 V. So I removed it and I was able to turn on TV with buttons on TV, but not with remote control.

What could be the problem ? Thanks...

SHARP LC-32CHF5111K - stuck at color test mode

                                            Hi friends,

TV has stuck at - as I googled the term - color test mode. Slowly flashing colors white, red, green, blue, black, over and over again. I tried some hints from internet, like pressing some remote buttons, but nothing worked. I also tried factory reset for Sharp TVs => "while holding vol– & input buttons on tv plug in set when “k” appears push vol– & chan- " , but TV doesn't even start during buttons pressed.
So I decided to flash new firmware to SPI ROM. What do you say, would it help? If so, where can I find some dump? I was unable to find...

                                            Dear colleagues,
I've entered the repair of the chromebook machines just one month ago and I've found some significant differences from the classic laptops or macbooks, so I'm searching some advices.

The owner of this chromebook gave it to me after it has been left flooded by water for almost a week, so chances of repair were not so high, the mainboard was oxidyzed in many spots but I made a nice cleaning, resoldering and component replaging work and now it is almost working.

Among other things I've cleaned many spots from oxyds, reballed CPU, EMMC, EC, replaced...

                                            Hello,

I have a CFI-1215A PS5 (EDM-030 board) here that won't boot normally. It currently will immediately boot into Safe Mode upon power button press with a screen that says "Processing" and then a progress bar that usually begins around 75-84% and slowly climbs up to 99% where it will hang forever. The console will not ever escape past the 99% mark.

                                            Things I have tried:

                                            1. Tried force booting into Safe Mode by pressing and holding power button for 2 beeps so I could use a reinstallation USB, but the console still boots into Safe Mode with the...
