Re: LG DRT389H DVD recorder
I got in touch with LG regarding this model. Downloaded an update file, not a cure all, of course, but found it very useful. LG were very helpful, that was about a year ago. Still have disc, and have, as I have said, found it useful.

Re: LG 52LG5010 ac detect sorted but still problematic
Recently repaired one of these TV's. The fault was relay clicking on and off continuously. With back on relay clicks. Take back off, set worked perfectly if room lit. Ordinary daylight enough to keep tv running. Take back off at night, in dark room, tv would keep on clicking. Putting insulation tape over zd102 kept relay clicking. Replacing zd102 16v zener cleared fault. Also replaced zd503 because it read 15v, instead of 16v. Zd102 did not read faulty, and replaced with same type, In5246b. The tv on test all this week and is...

Re: Vestel not powering on - Tips
Just repaired Evesham Alquemi42sx, it is a Vestel. Would not power up when first switched on. Switch off, then on, second time, would start up normally. Did cure the problem, but could not get into service mode at first, because I didn't know tv wouldn't go into service mode if switched to dtv. In tv reception, entered service mode ok with menu 4725.Put tv back to factory settings a number of times, no improvement. Left tv for a couple of hours, switched on, and came on straight away, and has done so ever since. One other thing, in options, changed...

Re: No picture Bush BPDP42HD2
Had same problem as giff1711, also didn't know where to start. Had set that had vs and va at switch on, but disappeared very quickly. Found if removed plug at cn804, that disconnects vs and va from psu. Also disconnect flexible connector from control to y board at cn5003 psu stays on. Removed q4001 and q4007 from x board, both s/c and could replace cn804 plug, meaning all plugs connected, and psu vs and va voltages, stay on, that is with my boards. Make sure no s/c on x and y board. Before I go on, green led. on control board will be flashing about...

Re: No picture Bush BPDP42HD2
In process of repairing Bush BPDP42HD2. This is first time have come across this model. Found Q4001 and Q4007 s/c, also s/c in buffers. The owner of tv did say the set only broke down when he fitted it on wall. After what Tom said in post 11, I could be gambling more than usual on this one. Now, to question I want to ask, it concerns price mostly. Tvspareparts had buffer for just under £31, inc p&p. That is about £20 cheaper than any other price I saw, but sold out. Had stocks for Hitachi Ps42c450, so bought one thinking they are identical, am...

Re: Back light problem
Just repaired an Alba lcd32880hdf. Was puzzled until I read this thread. Replaced c230/c231 3kv, television worked perfectly. Checked for dry joints, seemed ok. Couldn't fault old capacitors in any way, they read same as replacements. Got spare caps off Darfon backlight board,v144. 16 on that board. I would have bought replacement board, hopefully, the p.s.u. board. Thanks vinceroger69.

Re: Lg50pg3000 sound but no pic.
Tom66,
Obviously a common fault with that model. Came across my first plasma with y board and buffer combined. It was a Samsung Ps50b450b1w. As long as buffer I/c's havn't gone it seems a kit will repair most of them. Also came across a Panasonic tx-p55vt30b, a kit repaired that y board. All three repaired now Tom, and am writing this to say how pleased I am to see the back of them. The last two, anyway.

Re: Lg50pg3000 sound but no pic.
Seems your fault same as mine, in that changing top buffer got television working. Got my buffer from Charles Hyde. Having an account with them, apparently helps with price. It does seem that with LG the days of Y sustain boards knocking out buffer boards may have gone, with this model, anyway. What you have said does not surprise me, also had problems with back panel screws.
Anyway, well done Stingos,

Re: Lg50pg3000 sound but no pic.
stingos1,
Didn't ignore you, only came back to report I had repaired my set. In my case, when both buffers connected correctly, voltages across r201 and r202 incorrect. Checked buffers, bottom buffer seemed OK on resistance readings and, as it turned out, was OK. Top buffer read 68 ohms across c116, c127, c137 and c147. Should read meg ohms. Out of circuit, about 7 meg. Top buffer faulty. Got brand new top buffer for £43 that is including VAT and postage. Part no. ebr50039008. Ebr50039005 equivalent. Some years back, with LG, if a...

Re: Lg50pg3000 sound but no pic.
Tom,
Spotted something, the buffers not connected to y-sus board. Looked ok, but not connected to correct slot. Vy and vsc voltages now incorrect when boards connected correctly. Know where I am now, maybe just one buffer faulty. Maybe both buffers and y board. Thanks for help.
Ron.

Re: Lg50pg3000 sound but no pic.
I believe it doesn't glow. At the moment can't tell, television facing window and impossible to darken room. Did work on it last night though and did look for any trace of brightness, and found none. I think safe to say answer is no.

Re: Lg50pg3000 sound but no pic.
Yes Tom, I have. Vsc 134.8v. Vy 194.4v. Have also looked up info you put on this site on this model. Negative to left of resistors positive to right. Both readings come out positive.

Lg50pg3000 sound but no pic.
This plasma television has sound, but no picture. Not a glimmer on the screen. Have checked all voltages and waveforms on main, power, control, y-sus, z-sus and buffer boards. Everything seems ok but there is no picture. Logic says probably plasma panel faulty. It could be, but have I missed something. D105 heat sink on power supply cold. The rest hot. Heat sinks on y board cool. Heat sinks on buffer boards cold. Heat sinks on z board slightly warm. So one section power supply not drawing current. Y board and buffers not drawing current. Z sus could be drawing a little current. Any ideas.

Re: Samsung Le40c530f1w
Found problem, was a ccfl flickering. Reasonably certain it was only one of the twelve. After a lot of testing, fault became worse, backlights shut down with psu disconnected from main board. Could get tv back working by removing rf 804, which made protect circuit less sensitive. After this, noticed slight flickering on screen, only on the seventh lamp from top. Next step, looked through lcd tv's with cracked screen's, to find similar ccfl. Havn't got that many of them, so surprised to find had same model. So replaced the backlight assembly, saved a lot of...

Re: Samsung Le40c530f1w
Tom,
What you suggested made me think. First, how do I force backlights to maximum. On pin 6 the voltage moves up and down when backlights moved on pic. menu. High volts 5.29. Low volts .78. That is on pin 6 disconnected from psu/inv. Comes out of main board. Putting backlights to max. reading on main board 5.29v, reading on psu 5.27v. So backlights should be maximum when pin 6 disconnected.Seems already done what you suggested. By accident, not design.Next thought was resistor that supplies 5v. could have gone high value. As I have changed psu/inv...

Re: Samsung Le40c530f1w
Tested for many hours but backlights went off. Maybe something on panel, a ccfl for instance. Is there a modification for this model. At this moment I don't know the answer. Remove pin 6 on cn802 still works Ok. Let cool down overnight backlights will not come back. Remove pin 6 and backlights work perfectly.
