Toshiba TV wont power up after new power supply

I have a Toshiba 55G310U that one day I powered on and the picture came up but the sound was screaching like crazy. It wouldnt allow me to turn it off at all so i unplugged it. I figured it was the power supply so I ordered a new one and installed it. Now I still cannot get it to power up. Could it be the motherboard? Please help!! (it wouldnt power up before the new powersupply)

So, the TV screached and then you unplugged it only to have it not cut on anymore?

It could be a main board problem but do you have 5v always present at the connector going to the main board? (Do you have a meter?)

Yeah I have 5V constantly on the power supply. It appears that it doesnt output a constant 12V or 24V until the main board powers up?

Can you locate and test all fuses - we are in the dark here

        Welcome to the forum-
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

It will be useful if you can say what the supposed fault was and a bit about yourself - skills tools etc.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

32C110U1, 40E210U1 are related models, and use very similar main boards. I have repaired both of those models for dead main boards by replacing EEPROMs. I would bet this model is susceptible to the same failure.

I checked all the fuses on the board and they tested good. If I put the old power supply in, it still does nothing. :/

Then you probably are looking at the main then.

Do the 12 and 24v rails cut on when you hit the power button?

Could be corrupted flash memory , common with toshiba on a lot of models.

Got a new main board today, plugged it in, and no picture or green light. Is there a reset on it somewhere? I feel heat coming off the main board now where as with the old one i didnt. Is there any other thing that could have gone out?

I also noticed the board has a cap that wasn't making connection and the board appears to be used. I am returning it to the company. Is there any other boards that could make this happen

Re: Toshiba TV wont power up after new power supply

If the power supply is putting out the proper 5 volts, and the green light never comes on after pressing the power button, that has always been a main board issue on a Toshiba, in my experience.

Re: Toshiba TV wont power up after new power supply

FYI, unless you purchase it directly from the manufacturer, most boards you order are used. Even boards purchased from the manufacturer are often repaired boards. They only manufacture a limited number of replacement boards for a given model. They rely on recycling boards to provide enough for repairs.
