    Lorenz CTV-2101R CRT repaired

This was my grandmother's CRT since 1990. We bought 2 at that time, 1 for them and 1 for my parents. The second works without any problem to this day.

The TV set of that thread on the other hand, started to have some serious convergence problems and 1 month ago suddenly lost its red color.

I checked all the caps and had to replace 9 that were completely dead or had too high esr.

The CRT board has turned black from heat and most of its solder joints were in bad condition. I reflowed nearly all of them and several on power supply board.

Then the colors came back, but the convergence issues remained.

I noticed that the magnet rings had gone loose and there was no indication of how they were factory configured. I reconfigured them very carefully and patiently and the convergence problems were fixed I was even able to enhance the colors purity. I put some drops of logo to secure them. What type of glue is suitable for this application?

Did you notice the big Samsung capacitor on the power supply board? I didn't know Samsung made caps. There are some Daewoo caps too, 2 of them were bad.

Thank you! I wish I knew how to fix the Sony CRT TV too:

Samsung's capacitor business was spun off into Samwha.
Daewoo folded a few years ago, but they made a lot of electronic components, I've seen their caps in an LG LCD TV too.
