will try it later but the sound comes right away when i Start the MacBook and doesn't come with speaker FLEX disconnected....

MacBook A1708 820-00840-a speaker making strange noises
Hi all,
i fixed a A1708 which was not working. Not its booting but the left speaker is making buzzing and sizzling noises. I added a short video to show it.

I guess i found the faulty chip. I unsoldered LP800 to isulate the short even more and after removing QP800 short is gone. I'm going to get a replacement from Digikey asap.
One more question since my UP800 shows a little crack at one corner. Is it safe to get a replacement from Aliexpress or is any extra proramming / special donor chip needed?...Leave a comment:

Made a voltage injection and LP800, QP800 and QP803 are heating up. So it should be something faulty in this area?
Any conclusion or do i have to take surrounding caps and mosfets out to find the shortet component? Maybe i should start with QP800 and QP803 to check if they have an internal short?

Update here, there was some dirt under UP800. Reballed the chip, checked with USB-C tester (everything fine and 20v), but it back in the case and started the Macbook. I got the chime and suddenly it went off.
I think my big mistake was to use it with my HP docking station via USB-C...
No i have a short on PPBUS_AON (5V and 0,00 to 0,01A). Injecting 1V with 5A only showed head at my injection spot. Any ideas what to do? Since there are many tantal caps i could go up with the voltage?Leave a comment:

Macbook A2442 no display board 820-02098
Hi all,
i got a Macbook A2442 which statrts normal but is not showing any picture. Using an external monitor works fine. After opening the Macbook i found a dried up line of liquid damage around CN979, RD503, and UP730. I cleaned up everything and also unsoldered the chips to clean the pads. There were no shorts before but i still don't have any picture. Sometimes you can see a glimpse of light in the middle of the display.
So before i change the whole display i want to make sure that it's not any issue with the logicboard. So any ideas what i can check next?... -
It's fixed! One wire did the trick. It's insulated copper but i will also ad a UV mask.

Hello,
i got this controller in a bunch of non working return shipments. Already looked like this.
The dealer on ebay offered them as hall effect sticks but the problem was there before.
Main fault was a damaged USB port which i repaired and now i try to fix the stick....Leave a comment:

All lines show no voltages. Also soldering a wire between the X points didn't help even If there was no continuity.

Please find pics attached. The copper trace in the front was scratched by me because there was a lot of dirt and wanted to check for damaged. But the fault was already there....

The problem stays the same with changed axes even with or without installed potentiometers.
I checked all lines for continuity and would guess that there is a.problem with a cap.
Since i have no shorts is there any way to find "wrong" Ohm readings?Leave a comment:

I unsoldered the stick checked eveything again and after soldering it back the problem still is the same. So there must be a hardware issue with lines our maybe caps? Anybody has an idea what to check?

That's U7800 lighting up. T2 chip only gets some heat. So remove it and check if there is any change?

I reballed it two times and it moved in position.
C7080 shows 3,4 Ohm. Meassurements also stay this low with ISL and / or C7080 removed.
Also with the changed CD3217 removed again the line stays low. I tried some voltage injection and got 30C hot spots at T2 chip and U7800. Is there a chance that they cause this problem even 30C is not really concerning....Leave a comment:
