I think I have my problem narrowed down a little more. I have a SONY KDL-52S4100 and I put in a new Video board and a new T-con. When I have the TV on I have a Black screen/no picture but have great sound with back lighting. however If I disconnect both ribbon cables from the T-con to the screen IC boards when OFF. then reconnect the right one and leave the left disconnected, I turn on the TV and have great picture on that half of the screen. Then, with the TV on I plug in the other ribbon cable to the t-con and the whole screen goes dark. I have not opened the TV more then getting to the boards on this TV, but others I have torn all the way down. I believe from this that my problem is the LEFT IC board, at lest I think it is called that. any more Ideas would be great.

Re: SONY KDL-52S4100 Half screen dead.
What happens when you only have the left connected?
Does this happen with the older TCON?
-Probably wouldn't connect/disconnect while on to reduce shorting possibilities.
Picture of the TCON (or what you mean by left IC board) may be helpful too by using the manage attachments feature.

Re: SONY KDL-52S4100 Half screen dead.
Ok I got it fixed. If I just had the left T-con cable in Still no Picture, So I took the TV apart down to just the screen and found nothing. So I put it back together but half way I decided to put it together where I can test it. "test it without most of the screws back in. And then I got great picture. so I put pressure on the screen edges and the left side like 75% up from the bottom would kill the whole picture if like something grounded out. so I pop out that part of the screen and reset the tv. "reset by just turning it off then back on" and I would have the picture again. so I put a spacer there and put it back together. so far seems to be working. If I knew then what I know now I could have saved alot of money getting parts that where most likely not bad. But I saved this TV from the trash pile it was in.

Re: SONY KDL-52S4100 Half screen dead.
I'm guessing a bad panel? I had a 46" sony with this no picture backlight on problem also. Sometimes the screen would go black especially if I put pressure on both ends of the tv. (Like twisting it as if it was on a swivel stand) The picture would turn off immediately after and it only comes back on when I turn it off and back on. Sometimes double pictures would come up also.
