Re: vizio 42 gv421 no picture/sound
Go to search this forum and type in Vizio, or Vizio GV421 and look at other posts, i myself fixed two vizios recently one was a bad voltage regulator on the main board. the other set had a defective T-CON Board. searching other threads/posts will give you a chance to see what other people have found. but most likely someone else will post some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose it. Good Luck! -

Re: vizio 42 gv421 no picture/sound
I think those green and silver spots helped someone to denote pin 1 on the chip. They were replaced, or factory screwOP. You need better focused pictures. Front and back of the power supply board if possible. The whole main board. And a good picture of the whole back side of the TV so that the regular members can see how everything hooks up. I to had a bad voltage regulator on a 42" vizio. It sounds like a main board problem. But could be ccfls. Good luck.Comment

Re: vizio 42 gv421 no picture/sound
On those connectors on the power supply, do you see a pin marked 5V (or 5VS, or 5VSTBY), and a pin marked ON/OFF, PSON or STBY?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: vizio 42 gv421 no picture/sound
OK, what is the voltage at 5VSB and PSON when the TV is showing the ORANGE (standby) logo?
Then press the power button. Do the voltages change?
The main board and inverters should be plugged in for this test. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: vizio 42 gv421 no picture/sound
5VSB is just 3V? This is a problem. Can you just test a fresh AA battery just in case your meter isn't working right, you should get around 1.5-1.6V.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Ah did you use DC volts or AC volts? You should use DC volts. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: vizio 42 gv421 no picture/sound
I just tested it on the DC setting. I'll assume the power gets converted from AC to DC on the power board? 5VSB fluctuated between 1.44 to 1.55v PSON fluctuated between -0.08 to -0.16 and would jump to 0.78 to 0.86 when I turn the power on.Comment

by ggil44Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... - Loading...
