    Vizio VW46LFHDTV10A Really dark picture.

Gentlemen!! I am at your mercy...please take a look at the pictures i have taken. When you first power on the tv, there is a little thin vertical line further to the right side of the screen, but goes away after tv heats up. I am new to this, and i need to know where to start. Can somebody help me? There is no blown capacitors..and there is light coming from the screen..I have sound, and i can use the remote

thank you for all the help

With your hand if you tap around the front of the LCD frame do you see a change in picture quality/brightness?

No..there is not change..I even tapped on each of the ribbons connected to the t-con board, and there was no change.

            Hi Bafury, I'm here!
He called me earlier in the day and I mentioned this forum for him.
Unfortunately, my TV looked totaly different then yours.
On mine I had only on side of the TV darker and it had ghosting going on, but all the colors were right. Yours has something else.
You are in good hands here. Good luck with this TV and with the others, that you have.

Re: Vizio VW46LFHDTV10A Really dark picture.

I had a sony with a bad panel that was made by AU Optronics. Before i scrapped the panel i was tinkering around with it and i noticed there was a little hole on the top of the panel with a "pot" screw. Since i was junking the panel i started turning it to see what it did. It actually made the screen go lighter and darker. So if your panel is by the same maker it might be worthwhile to take a look and see if you have the same "pot" on the top of the panel. I even think there was a hole in the case for acess to it. Worth a look before you part the tv out.

Is it even worth it to buy a replacement panel? Where can i buy a panel...Can the panel be fixed?

one more question....by any chance...could the cable that connects the t-con board and the main board cause this if it was faulty?

May be the cable, cleaning and reseating is always worth a try.
Did you find the pot screw?
Could be voltage regulators on the tcon?

Did you try a replacement tcon board? I got a tv on sunday that had an almost negative display. It looked real similar to your photo with the xbox360 dashboard. I told the guy it COULD be the panel but we can try a tcon. We looked up a tcon and it was $20 shipped from ebay. The guy was willing to roll the dice and see if it worked.

Got the tcon board today and sure enough it fixed the display. If you haven't made any head way on your issue and if a tcon is reasonably cheap, it may be worth giving it a shot.

If you take the front bezel off or loose enough to see the metal surrounding the LCD screen, on the flat top section there will be a hole and you can see that it will take a flat blade screwdriver inside the hole.

It was very white. You could sorta make out the images on a cable show but it was very fuzzy and grainy. I'll take a picture with the old tcon before i put the tv back together.

Bafury has dark screen, not white. It may have different issue.
I played ones with a 52 Samsung and I cut some tab traces by mistake and it was very white, but still a clear picture.

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound

Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

                                          HI all,
hope someone point to the possible issue before I start buying replacement parts.
Tv starts normal and responds to remote fine, PSU voltages mesured fine 19v was 18.9V under load and 19V with main board disconnected.
Backlight stays on all the time,
                                          Sound works fine.
screen keeps changing form black to full picture in about 1sec intervals.
Picture looks fine with no visible artifacts.
I have disconnected backlights and flashlight test confirmed that picture is still doing the same.

VIZIO E70-E3 Half picture with half TCON
                                          by Fly_Among_Stars
                                          Hi,
                                          I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
                                          Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.

If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and...
