Does the relay in the PSU make clicking noises? If so there might be a short circuit which could be preventing the power supply from starting up.

Try un-plugging the inverter boards. If the set turns on ok (won't have any backlight thought), one of the inverter boards has a fault. If not, then there is a problem on either the PSU, the A/V board or t-con.

Hi- Pic s are a bit better this time. Cant spot anything adrift.
There are 3 red barrel fuses on the power board - should be ok
but perhaps you can check them. Cant see any on the inverter board
but there are components labelled FL which I think may mean they are fusible links. I can see 2 but may be more. You can check them as if it were a fuse.

Next time it is on record exactly how many times each light flashes
and if there is a sequence - it may be an error code.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

I was just thinking the backlight inverter may be shorted, so he could check it and rule it out

And how do you find error codes??? I don't have ANY luck finding them on the web...

you need to be checking output voltages on the psu,is there a standby voltage? ,most prob marked 5V-STB or 3.3V-STB ? if it is missing then the tv wont power up.

its either a shaky camera hand or dodgy light, but just too the right of the large wiring harness ,there looks to be a cap that looks bulged?

Re: Sharp LC-32GA6E Stuck in standby

OPC is related to the on power timer, you can usually change this setting in the user menu, most likely it was set to a 5 minute sleep timer if not receiving any video input.

Sorry tom66, when i say 5mins just figure of speech, basically i left it for a few mins.

the OPC has gone off, the tv didnt turn on.

Now i just left it for a bit longer then i heard the click backlights are on now.
Didnt touch it, then few mins later heard the click backlights go off?

On a closer inspection maybe trival but 1 cap looks suspect, the bottom seems like its sticking out or bottoming out?, 25v 330uf (c291).
Sorry for the delay in replying, how to reboot updating GFX drivers.

Re: Sharp LC-32GA6E Stuck in standby

Have you actually tried feeding a signal into it? Many TVs will shut down after a minute or so with no signal. Random shut downs would usually point to cold joints. Bad caps rarely cause random shut downs and Sharp use very good caps in their own TVs (of course, not in the cheap rebranded ones, but this is a genuine Sharp.)

Tom66 the rail with 6 mosfets running down the middle of PSU, i got a plastic comb and just starting tapping it, backlight come on. its been on for like 10 mins now.

Ive connect now freeview box, but i dont know how to get the tv too see it. the radio is working tho.

The tv has never been setup on freeview before. so its still got the analogue settings bbc1,bbc2 etc.

tho i could just plug it in and it should see the freeview box?

Yeah sounds like cold joints there, take the PSU out and reflow all the joints on large heatsinked components with a soldering iron.

Try using the input or source select button to select the freeview source, or refer to the user manual.

Don't forget to try turning the freeview box on!

If it still doesn't work, try a different source, like a VCR or DVD player.

Sorted i will never try repairing tvs when ive drunk 2 bottles of Bulmers Vintage Cider again.

Guess whot i done, i plug the lead from the back of the freeview into this tv, also the aerial connector.

When i should of tooken the leads from the back of my tv.

Sense ive tap those mosfets its been working, so yea look at soldering all that area in the morrows.

Re: Sharp LC-32GA6E Stuck in standby

Thought i had solved the problem, had a few mixed results, unplugged tv left for few minutes, tv came back on but only for a minute or so. That was sunday morning tried and tried still didnt come back on, led to the front is solid green, it dont go into standby mode which the led to front should be red.

Tried yesday monday tv still didnt work, so today i tried go more indepth.

On the back of the PSU Board theirs 2 diodes (D770) (D760)(i think their diodes label as D*** in clear glass type with red stripes) probes correct way give me .145 also if i reverse probes on (D770) readings kinda races up to "OL"

On the D760 diode probes correct way gives me .145, reverse it stops on 1.646.
