    Re: Sharp LC-32GA6E Stuck in standby

    Can also hear high pitch sound very low, with a ticking sound every 3-5 seconds coming from one of the transformers Think its T701.

    When i unplug the power cable the whinging sound slighty goes higher, then fades out.

      Need a little help does these readings sound correct?
      Meter set to diode

      Q701 reads:-

      Black probe on G, Red probe on D = OL
      Black probe on G, Red probe on S = 1.267
      Black probe on D, Red probe on S = .476

      RED probe on G, BLACK probe on D = OL
      RED probe on G, BLACK probe on S = 1.164
      RED probe on D, BLACK probe on S = OL

      Q702 reads:-

      Black probe on G, Red probe on D = OL
      Black probe on G, Red probe on S = 1.272
      Black probe on D, Red probe on S = .475

      RED probe on G, BLACK probe on D = OL
      RED probe on G, BLACK probe on S = 1.153
      RED probe on D, BLACK probe on S = OL

      Are they ok?

        Those readings look good.

        I suspect a bad cap in here, especially with the random on/off issues it is having.

            Still no joy, the whining sound is coming from this relay, i recapped nearly the whole board yesday apart from the large caps.

            Can anyone piont me what directions i should take next.

              Hmm, either the power supply standby has a lot of ripple, or the circuit meant to turn the relay on is not functioning right.

              Check the standby voltage again.

                Just connected the DMM onto CN706 something aint right?

                pin1= 1.26v
                pin2= 0.00v
                pin3= 1.26v

                  hiya thought i come back & retry.
                  Tv led showing solid green, slight high pitch sound coming from i think L703,
                  pin1= 1.26v
                  pin2= 0.00v
                  pin3= 1.26v
                  pin4= 0.00v
                  pin5= 0.00v
                  pin6= 0.00v
                  pin7= 0.00v
                  pin8= 0.14v
                  pin9= 1.78v
                  pin10= 0.00v
                  pin11= 3.48v
                  pin12= 3.48v
                  pin13= 0.00v

                  How to i go about checking D701, for some funny reason can only get readings with the probes connected reverse?

                    Sorry just a quick heads up, are theses readings correct

                    DMM set to 2k diode:>

                    Q710:
                    Red probe on G - Black probe on S = .322
                    Black probe on G - Red probe on S = .322

                    Red probe on G - Black probe on D = .913
                    Black probe on G - Red probe on D = 1.

                    Red probe on D - Black probe on S = 1.
                    Black probe on D - Red probe on S = .524

                    DMM set to 2k diode:>

                    Q711:
                    Red probe on G - Black probe on S = 1.
                    Black probe on G - Red probe on S = 1.094

                    Red probe on G - Black probe on D = 1.
                    Black probe on G - Red probe on D = 1.

                    Red probe on D - Black probe on S = 1.

                          I don't see anything obviously wrong with your readings.
                          Does the board still whine?

                              It's probably from that yellow transformer above. Checked shorted diodes on output?

                                      The transformer is probably OK, as they have a failure rate nearing zero percent. Do you have any standby voltage at all?
