I would sell it faulty, and buy an easy to repair TV like one with bad caps. I can get a TV with bad caps fairly easily, for around £30-40.

Hi - I have the exact same model TV with the exact same problem. Can't really determine from the posts what ultimately ended up being the problem here. Were the inverter boards bad, was it faulty CCFL's, or both? Were you able to actually fix the problem? Wondering if the set is worth fixing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
It was 12 months ago - perhaps pm the original poster and ask if he got it fixed.
Looks like he needed some bulbs and bought the onverter as well.
You could do some of the early testing as per the thread and revert back if you get stuck.
Welcome to the forum-
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.
Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.
What I found out with my LCD tv if the any of the ccfl lights goes out, the inverter board shuts down within a few seconds of starting. This was the case with my TV. One bulb was out causing this issue. It is a project to tear apart though. As you can see from the pic, there are 18 bulbs and one in the middle is out. You can also tell by the darkness of the LCD bulb.

Reason: to add pic.
That is corect, there is 3 second timing circuits that detect if the lamp fired up and stay conducting, open connection (lamp not connected), over current, the inverter circuits will shutdown, it only take one bad lamp to shutdown the inverter circuits.
I had the same problem with this tv (TLX-04244b) I found 3 bulbs out and 1 flickering, (seemed like the buzzing was coming from the flickering bulb). After swapping bulbs around I noticed the same smell and smoke (from same HV plug on inverter board) and after closer inspection noticed I cracked a bulb. Must need all bulbs in / good or bad because now Tv backlights just flicker a little bit. Thinking I fried something...
So I got home today and truned on the t.v so I could see the bad bulbs and it truned on but the light slowly shut off from right to the left and I started smelling something like electrical components burning. I immediately unplugged the t.v and inspected it and found this. So do you think the master board is bad now or what could have caused this, i;m kinda scared to plug it back.
Hi,
I have the same problem. I dissembled tv and found 3 bulbs out which is what was shutting inverter down. I tried cleaning ends and moving around bulbs to troubleshoot. When I turned tv back on I smelt something and found the same burn on the master board plug. Now I have no backlight at all, Found out I cracked a ccfl and must of overloaded something. Did you find a fix for this (Master board replacement)?
Please let me know what you found.
Thank You...
